Good deal, but bad seller. Antonline hit me with an undisclosed restocking fee on an item that was misrepresented by them (wrong specs) and then they gave me the runaround with bad/unresponsive customer service until I gave up, deciding I just wouldn't buy from them ever again, and that I'd share my experience. And "no" eBay wouldn't help in the end. BTW Antonline used to be good IMO. Maybe they're under new ownership or new management?

I have this laptop. A great machine if you don't require many ports. But I would get the non-touch screen. Unless you have a use that requires touch.

Oh ok, sorry. Yeah, a 2-3 lb 16 inch laptop or something like that wouldn't be necessary because it may not have a HDMI port, like the Dell XPS for $1050 from Best Buy. That one only has 2 USB Type C ports and weights practically nothing.

The Dell Inspiron 16 is like 4.1 lbs, which is pretty reasonable for a 16 inch display IMO.

I'd say the most important things to me are: Ryzen 7/i7 level processor, 16gb RAM, 512gb or larger SSD, good battery life (about 10 hrs), a good display, and a reliable brand.

The really nice to haves would be things like a 144Hz display with a Nvidia chip. But that's not as feasible without spending upwards of $1k.

I wish the Surface Pro 9 series was more affordable because I don't think their form factor and i5 processor are worth $1k from Costco at this point for the way better display, the form factor, etc?
that's going to be a bit tough to find at least on the PC side, as far as I could tell, especially with a great battery life. I think ive seen creator laptops that have dropped to a bit over $1k but the battery life on those have a lot left to be desired. Are the programs you need to run heavily reliant on windows or a specific processor?

Maybe worth considering the Lenovo Slim Pro 7. Idk if it perfectly ticks all of your boxes but I bet it'll get close if you're wanting something that's relatively light, powerful, with decent battery life, and can game but isn't a "gaming laptop." I've been a fan of it so far: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/leno...Id=6533954

You can search for laptop deals, there's a few gaming ones in your price range: https://slickdeals.net/laptop-deals/

Some worth considering, keep in mind there'll always be compromises at this price range. Always worth considering Open-Box units from Best Buy too.

(Probably want to add an extra 8gb RAM to this one)

I need something for Power BI, Tableau, and SQL. Does this having only a quad core processor make a difference over some other laptops with i7s and Ryzen 7s with more cores? Thanks!
this will be MORE than enough to handle all of that

Been using this laptop for the past 2+ years (and ThinkPads for 25+ years). It's been fantastic. My only 2 complaints are the keyboard is noticeably smaller than all of the 14" X1 Carbons I have had in the past and as someone else mentioned, the battery life isn't stellar. But for this price I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it at all!

Thank you! It's funny I was just looking at that Rog on best buy saying that's a nice deal. They have an open box near me for 880$ I have like 3-4 that I'm looking at on best buy. I like the Asus Tuf but never really had an AMD GPU before so not sure what to compare performance too.

The original price is impressive. For $750, I would go for MacBook air m1

https://nanoreview.net/en/cpu-com...s-apple-m1

RAM is not an issue as you can swap on apples fast SSD.

The only question is that if you like Mac or Win.

Both have pros and cons. M1 Air has almost double the battery life, but half the ram and half the SSD. X1 has an upgradable SSD, but unfortunately it is a smaller 2242 size, so much more expensive and limited in selection. You might have an easier time selling the M1 Air, but the "Thinkpad" label will help resale values a lot compared to other Windows laptops. The X1 Nano is also substantially lighter than the M1 air. 1.99lbs vs 2.8lbs is much bigger than you think. Day and night in terms of how these laptops will feel on your lap.

wow, thank you for your reply, I did not even notice the weight of x1 is much lighter! Impressive weight which is lighter than my iPad Pro 12.9 with Magic Keyboard.
