I had a cell phone number but lost it after I changed phone numbers. I want to recover that old number for a while, as I had some accounts with 2FA tied to that number. I confirmed that the old number is still unused in Metro's number pool, so I can get it back. I don't have a Metro account active at the moment, just T-Mobile service. Was told I'll need to have a Metro account active in order for them to be able to try to get my old number assigned to it.

Can I take advantage of this offer? I was told I could just get a $15 prepaid account, plus pay $25 activation and then I can get Metro to try to recover the old number and put it on that account.

Is there a better/cheaper way (possibly this deal)?

If you have an eSIM capable phone you can call to get it activated on this plan, and they will usually waive activation. That's $25 total.

Otherwise, go into Walmart and get a SIM/Starter Kit for $10, then call - that's $35 total.

Last time I had any dealings with Metro, they shipped me a phone with a ballooned battery, refused to do anything about it at the store, had me call in, set up an exchange, and ship it back. And then never shipped a replacement, refunded my money, and when I call with the tracking number they gave me, claim it's not in their system.

If you can afford it, avoid these scammers.

I don't currently have an eSim capable phone, so I will look at the SIM starter kit at Walmart. Can I then just buy a prepaid temporary plan online from Metro, activate it and then just pop the SIM card into my unlocked iphone, then call Metro to ask them to try to recover my old number they said is still available and sitting in their # pool? They shouldn't charge for getting that # right?

Also, is a $25 plan the cheapest I can get?'

Thanks!

Yeah, you can activate online - but this BYOD plan is only available in-store or by calling. I'm not sure what the cheapest plan is.

It doesn't sound like the same plan. The one from OP says $25, port in okay, 10GB hotspot and the post you link is for existing customer with 15GB hotspot and $24.

That is a different plan than the one referenced in the OP.

Correct. The correct plan is now linked in the Wiki.

It says in store and didn't mention any hotspot allowance. It also says $30 for the first month and then $25 with auto pay. Hmmm. People in others Metro posts say never go to store.

You can get it by calling. It will be $25.

Correct - no hotspot allowance on this plan.

is there high speed data cap for this plan?
No, as a T-Mobile-owned brand, while deprioritized, there's no high-speed cap.

Why is title off by a $1?

Because that's a different, non-standard/hard-to-get, plan.

I see. Someone mentioned 10GB hotspot. I guess the hotspot limit is YMMV.

I called for $25 Unlimited, No activation fee plan today. I spoke with 3 different reps and none of reps were able to waive the activation fee. They said that If I had a plan with metro that expired, then they might be able to waive activation fee.

Are you attempting to activate an eSIM device?
