The glass version was on sale recently for $4 more. Not knocking the plastic version, but the glass version is amazing.

I don't think they're made for repeated microwave use. No plastic is, really. "microwave safe" just means the container itself won't heat up. The glass ones will be much better for long-term use in the microwave, without the top.

Ironic these post today...

Not only have three quarters of ours gone in the trash within a year because they crack - but the wife was washing the lid of one of the remaining containers and it sliced her finger open.

Avoid avoid avoid.
Never had any of mine crack nor are the lids 'sharp'. User error.

Pyrex Total Solutions glass looks like a better fit for me. I've purchased dozens of Brilliance in glass and plastic. T. Solutions seals on the top edge rather than the inner edge. There's no spill over when sealing and you can fill to the top. Easy to snap and unsnap. Made in U.S.A. including the lids which are write-able. The lids are easier to clean. Even though the tabs will eventually break off they are inexpensive to replace.

Brilliance requires a lot of force to open on the large size or if they've been in the freezer. Tolerance isn't good on glass Brilliance with some leaking. Cracked lids and broken hinges even though they are hand washed only and never microwaved. No replacement lids available.

Akro-Mils hopper bins are perfect for storing lids on the top shelf with their integral handle. Glossy hard stain-free plastic and indestructible construction makes them worth the premium price imo.

We've loved the glass ones, they dont stain and they've held up well. The top does have a rubber (or similar) gasket that may wear down, but so far so good. In for another, thanks OP.

I've had these for 5 or 6 years and love them! They do not stain and seal in liquids quite well. I do have a couple with spider cracks, however, those are merely cosmetic and haven't impacted usability at all. I've had absolutely zero issues with the latches breaking.

And for those trying to compare these to glass…Apples and oranges. I would not want glass ones with respect to portability. The weight and risk of breaking glass is s deal breaker for me.

These are excellent; best food storage I've ever used. Seals well, keeps food longer, hasn't stained, vent holes under handles when open for microwaving, and stack very well since the square design is efficient and takes into consideration average height of fridge shelves.

Agree that glass is the way to go, but I'm suspect of the claim that glass version of this set was avail for only $4 more - also I generally would rather buy the pieces that I want instead of these bundles - just like knife sets you end up with some that you just don't want/need - I'm not a fan of the tiny ones that come in this set

Glass version have been reported with shattering due to the pressure seal of these products. Be wary.

Made of plastic? No thanks. Glass storage is way better for food anyway.

Do these have a rubber ring/gasket around the lid to create the seal? My experience is those always get mildewy and permanently stained over time. Even if you leave the lid off to let them air dry the water gets down between the channel and rubber piece.

Curious if these are any better or different?

No. The seal is silicone. True that the lid takes longer to air dry than top seal types. It is possible to thoroughly clean underneath the seal when submerged in sudsy water with a finger or a sponge. Cleaning with a soft no scratch wand such as Dawn is fast and effective especially in the corners. 3M Scub Dots wand will scratch over time. Hand wash and no microwave greatly delays deterioration. Haven't seen any staining. The weak point is the fragile clear plastic mating for the clasp. A small number of lids have arrived with broken clasps. Tritan plastic is only suitable for cold food imo. They stack well and make good use of fridge and pantry space.
