Were there any cases where Samsung couldn't fulfill pre-ordered phones because of overwhelming orders ?

If you buy direct from best buy you can trade in at the store, but their value for the Flip5 was lower by at least $100 when I looked.

The only part about the Asurion experience I did not like was that they insist on having the PIN to unlock the phone. Why? I don't know, but we wanted the phone fixed, so we caved and let them have it.
