I have the red 5.5 quart one, and I use it at least once a week. It is an incredibly product and has been very reliable.

I can't reccomend it enough.

If you can afford Le Creuset it's obviously the best, but this really is the best one in the affordable range in my opinion.

The bottom is flat and wide, not sloped and graded. It holds heat well!

At some point, regardless of how meticulously you clean it, enamel will end up with some patina from regular, loving use. Embrace it.

How likely is the enamel to chip in these? Last time I bought a Dutch oven in this price range, I had a chip in the enamel within 5 uses.

Anyone comment on where these are made? The Woot page doesn't say.

If you have to ask, it's always China.

I wouldn't trust Chinese cast iron, but to each their own.

That's common with these new ones -- you get what you pay for.

can i sear a steak in any of these or would it color the enamel and make it impossible to clean?
No. For enamel fry pan I won't use any but a Staub. But there are better options.

Plain cast iron: best for searing, low price and durability.

Atlantis Proline 9.4" ( 24 cm ): best all around, wipes clean with a sponge after a short soak, it will stay new looking for a lifetime. Heat retention equivalent to c.i. Extremely versatile. Use it for everything including eggs. Develops beautiful fond. My everyday pan. If I could only have one pan then this would be it. I'm frugal but will still pay the price.

They say the Dutch Oven is "safe" for INDUCTION. I hope that means it's GOOD for induction because I just bought one. Got the white. Which turns out to be only $40.

I have two Cuisinart Dutch ovens. No problems with them. America's Test Kitchen on PBS gave them a high rating as a #2 best behind Le Creuset.

Depends on your induction. Most induction and especially portables will scorch and burn the enamel in the shape of the coil fairly quickly from the super-heating effect. Even L.C. will pop the enamel in time. Secondly, cast iron does not spread heat well and requires matching to burner size. 9" bottom max. Greater flexibility on gas. So unless you are heating liquids I would avoid stove top use.

Thanks for the warning. Mostly for soups and the like, so I hope I'll be OK.

Yeah I checked the Amazon reviews for the round one and someone mentioned it being an oval so I wasn't sure. Amazon tends to comingle reviews from various products though so it's hard to say.

The Dutch oven description says 'dishwasher safe'?!

For cast iron?
