Platinum Savings is a tiered interest rate account. Interest is paid on the entire account balance based on the interest rate and APY in effect that day for the balance tier associated with the end-of-day account balance.

APYs — Annual Percentage Yields are accurate as of September 3, 2024:

0.25% APY on balances of $0.01 to $4,999.99;

5.00% APY on balances of $5,000.00 or more.

Interest Rates for the Platinum Savings account are variable and may change at any time without notice. The minimum to open a Platinum Savings account is $100.

I've been banking with them for nearly 5 years. No major problems. My only issue is that their phone app is severely limited & kind of sucks. Other than that, if you send money, it arrives quickly & interest rates automatically raise without having to contact them. They seem to stay pretty competitive when it comes to the highest interest rate. I really like them & trust them with my money.

UPDATE: As of 06 NOV 23, the app on Android has been updated and reflects a top tier online banking experience. Very happy with the improvements that have been made.
You have more issues than just missing out on $10k!
Have been banking with them for many years. No issues, fast transfers, can manage everything online including closing accounts. Only negative is that their phone support sucks since they encourage online banking only, and they keep adding new account types with higher rates, and you have to open an account and transfer money to new account (which is pretty painless and done within minutes online)

Not true. I just checked my account and it is still 5.05. Same as the advertised rate.

Currently on Ally bank. Anyone used Ally before switching over to CIT or another high APY bank?

If so, which one and do you recommend that migration?

I am doing my own due diligence but asking....
Would it make sense to move my savings from a credit union over to this account?

I have accts with both. CIT transactions are slow and what you can do online is limited compared to Ally. Also, I have not been able to login to their phone app on my iPhone since I opened an account early 2023. I use CIT for savings/CDs, but still use Ally for checking and as my xfer hub.

I have my savings with them. APY on Plat savings did increase since I opened the account.
I also have a CD at 5% and now that it's being renewed they are offering 5.30% (for current customers, renewals), so I took it.

Moved a few months ago from Apple GS Savings.

I've been with Ally for several years and opened a CIT account about 6-7 months ago. In my experience Ally is far more user friendly for regular use but CIT is fine if you just need a place to let money sit. I also have HYSA's with Discover, Capital One, and Sofi and would recommend Sofi if you're looking for something comparable to Ally that also has a little bit better APY.

Ally is still my main account but Sofi is growing on me and I also keep some money parked into my CIT account. I like CIT the least but it's gotten a little better with a recent app update. Transactions are pretty slow with CIT compared to others so the only real reason to be with them in my opinion is the higher rate but an extra 0.5% really isn't a huge difference maker.

Same here. Seconded. Great bank. Have money with newtek and milli (5.5 percent) but cit has been my favorite so far.

Curious. Why are people not doing treasury bonds? Higher APR than this and no federal taxes on your interest/gains. No brainer. I just keep buying bonds with extra money.

SoFi is my Fave. I'm NEVER going to use their mobile deposit however, too many locked account horror stories.
