I could use a 4TB one, but is it worth the $20 more (Best Buy) to get the X8 instead?

I'm not seeing it...anyone can confirm I'll be able to play games from this on ps5? I only see ps4 listed as compatible.

Sorry, my comment came from another front page storage deal deal. Maybe I shouldn't miltitask. This drive is only compatible with PS4 and pervious gen PS'. This drive is NOT compatible with the PS5. I hope that helps.

Is there an upper limit to the cable length to maintain speeds, power, etc.? I'm thinking of keeping this with a 10' cord attached permanently in a pouch in my pocket to keep from losing/forgetting it, and I'd just pull out the cable when needed. Would that create heat problems?

If there are any suggestions to address all the above, please feel free to share them. Thanks!

Just FYI - These Crucial X6 and X8 drives get REALLY hot when in use. Like, so hot that you'll be surprised a plastic enclosure can handle it without warping or melting.

I use my X8 on my Xbox Series S and sometimes I'll put my hand on it just to check and I am actually shocked at how hot it gets, even when it's not really being used playing a game sometimes. It makes no sense.

I'd recommend spending a couple bucks more and grabbing a Samsung T7 Shield or something similar to that.

I bought the crucial x6 2 tb and the speed is wild compared to other external drives, flash drives, micro SD cards. Large volumes of data that took hours to copy over now take a few minutes. Folders that has thousands of photos that took a while to index and load just appear immediately. It's a similar experience to when SSDs started replacing hdds several years ago. The difference is night and day when compared to what you're used to.
