Despite the advertising, these DO NOT support UASP on Mac, Linux, and Windows is so bad and buggy that it might as well not support it at all.

The chip ORICO uses in these is called the Norelsys NS1068. It's awful. You can see reviews from a few IT and linux people who actually know what they are talking about on other Orico SATA USB adapters.

I bought one of these for a Raspberry Pi and it was basically unusable. That's when I did my research.

These are cheap for a reason.

Oh and TRIM doesn't work, even under Windows, if I remember correctly.

Not familiar with all the specifics of the Raspberry Pi, but ran across the following with what may be a workaround for UAS issues …

Yeah, same here. Looks like it may be dead already. I paused to look into some of the possible issues before buying, but guess I took too long.

Does it let you order a second one with the code?

I only ordered one. I just added another one to my cart to see if it would let me add the code again, but got an error on the code. Not sure if it's because it won't allow it to be used a second time or if it's just being glitchy with the code overall like when I first tried to use it.

The coupon is only good for one unit. I just had the same experience.

Chipset seem to be a hit or miss, getting either Norelsys NS1068 or Jmicron JMS578.

Thanks! I was about to get one for my Raspberry Pi 4 to re-purpose an older 256GB SSD into a boot drive.

Do you have any experience with and/or recommendations for enclosures that DO work well?

I just received it and just requested a return. My PC and laptop won't recognize it. My 2.5hd works on my older docking station.

Enclosure and SSD was recognized fine by my Manjaro Linux PC running kernel 6.1. Was able to partition and format the low end Neo Forza 240gb ssd I put in it to use as storage for my asus router.

If it is recognized by Manjaro it SHOULD also be recognized by a raspberry pi.

Try plugging it directly into a pc usb port to determine if the issue is the enclosure or the dock you are using. My dock had issues with the chipset but my pc saw it just fine.
