Why would they lock the brightness low, causing people to pass on buying this monitor? That makes no sense.
I'm sure that was rhetorical but idk, I was quoting. Are gaming monitors better if dimmer? I have no idea. I am looking to use for office so a higher Nits was important to me. Seems some others on this thread may have had a similar result.

Have been wondering if GPU Rx 6650xt is good enough to take advantage of 144Hz 1440p monitor. Or I am simply wasting money here. I already have dell model# P2715Q that can render 1440p 60Hz.

From an amazon review, if you were wondering the NITS. Bummer .

"The crucial defect which made me return this monitor is the brightness issue. The brightness should be 350 nits and the peak brightness should be over 400 nits. Whereas comparing to my 300 nits laptop, this monitor is way dimmer. It is even dimmer than my old monitor with only 250 nits brightness. all the pictures looks darker and reddish. After did some research, heard from reddit and some forums' reviews, Acer locked the brightness to 200 nits and you can only adjust it by manually calibrate the PWM in factory mod"
I'm pretty sure this review was for the XV272U, which is a different monitor. Also, the brightness issue was eventually fixed with a firmware update.

From rtings - https://www.rtings.com/monitor/re...#test_1381:
Quote :
Update 10/08/2021: Acer released a firmware update for this monitor, version 4B0E, that adds a new Max Brightness setting. With this setting enabled, the monitor is much brighter than before, and is very close to the advertised peak brightness.

The Acer Nitro XV272U has great SDR peak brightness with the latest firmware. Prior to firmware 4B0E, the peak brightness was significantly lower than the advertised 400 cd/m² and not bright enough to combat glare. It's extremely consistent across different content.

If you're asking about this deal (model # XV271U), I don't know. This appears to be a newer monitor and I'm not finding a lot of information or reviews on it.

But there's been some comments in this thread about low brightness and I wanted to clarify that was for an older model # XV272U. That one can be fixed with a FW update.

If you haven't already used your Amex deal from last month it works on this amazon product. I had 30% off (max $30 off) and brought this down to $169.99

Whoops, didn't even realize that this was un updated model actually. I've had its previous iteration then for a long time then. As for the newest one I have no clue how they hold up. Unless something drastically changed it should still be a solid monitor for the price

I'm looking for a 27" or 32" (min 2560x1440) monitor for general business compute use and don't need gaming specs. My laptop does have a Nvidia T600 Laptop GPU, so can handle one.

I'm wondering if this Acer KA272U monitor from Costco ($150) is sufficient for my needs or would it be better to go with the pricier gaming monitor.

I don't think you'll notice any higher specs, but KA272U might have a wake-up problem. Dontknow And I see it cheaper on Amazon [amazon.com]
