I ordered this in July, and it arrived with a broken keyboard, approximately an octave and a half lifted off the frame/keybed. I was able to arrange a pick-up and return with Adorama over a chat box on their website. A third-party picked it up yesterday. We'll see how long it takes to receive the replacement.

That's a bummer. The box clearly says to keep the keyboard upright but the shipping company strapped it on the truck on its side when I had received it. I think a lot of us got lucky that they didn't damage it that way, you might've been unlucky with it being upside down at some point in transit.

Wow! The same thing happened to me! After setting up the whole piano, I took the cover off the keys, and lo and behold, about a third of them were lifted and shifted, all stuck (see attached). Now, I'm orchestrating a pick-up and replacement. Someone's coming Monday to take it away, but they won't send a new one until they receive this one. I'm guessing I won't get the replacement until September, nearly a month and a half after I ordered it.

This has turned into a huge nightmare, and I'm pretty disappointed in both Kawai and Adorama. The whole situation is taking so much time and effort to fix. If this damage happened during shipping, it must've been a gorilla-sized mishap, as those keys are super wedged together. Kawai offered to send someone to fix it, but that would essentially leave me with a refurbished piano, and who's to say there isn't internal damage that could cause future problems?

I'll update here on how they handle the situation, but at this point, I'd recommend getting your piano locally and thinking twice about a Kawai piano. If this happened in a company I controlled, I would have taken care of my customer much better than either Kawai or Adorama has.

I bought one of these about 5 years ago, my wife loves it and the sound is very well done, along with the key action.

This is why I bought it from a B&M authorized Kawai dealer - even though it was $1999 it was worth the assurance of knowing I don't have to worry about broken keys. I bought a Yamaha p70 years ago and had some loose keys out of the box and had to live with it cause I didn't want to deal with the hassle of sending it back

For those of you who had to return/replace, are you sending it back assembled or are you disasembling it and attempting to get it back in the original box(es)???

Sorry Steve is this has happened to you as well!

After already assembling mine, I'm leaving it assembled. Neither Adorama nor the shipping company told me to disassemble it nor should anyone be expected to spend the time doing so given that the damage is not the customer's fault. Supposedly they are coming tomorrow (Monday) so I can let you know how it goes afterwards. Already a pain in the ass to schedule time home from work to be there for the pickup. Would have been better if they actually told me when they were coming (they didn't).

Also, there is very likely no way I'd be able to get the piano packed like it was. I don't actually remember how it was packed and second, the piano is quite heavy so not easy to handle.

I had not yet taken everything out of the box when I noticed the keyboard broken. I jigsawed everything back into the box and the third party picked it back up.
