Lenovo is notorious for putting exaggerated MSRPs on their site to make it look like they have crazy sales, when in reality this was always the street price. They are basically mattress retailers.

Just a heads up, this seems like a Non Backlit keyboard. Probably not a deal breaker, but just something to keep in mind

Your choice: Nano has 2k screen for more $ or this one with faster cpu at lower cost but acceptable screen.

The X13 is also a bit heavier, and it has a much better port selection than the X1 Nano. It also takes standard-size SSDs, which are much cheaper than the smaller (I think 42mm) SSDs used in the X1 Nano.

Not mentioned thus far (unless I missed it) - this has a 3-year warranty! That makes a good deal even better.

I have the 8GB/256GB/Win10 version of this and it works pretty well for basic productivity task. I can still run a VM (Linux Ubuntu server) in VirtualBox if need be for my Linux needs. The keyboard is nice, and it came with a built-in smartcard reader which is useful in my type of job. It doesn't feel cheap at all, courtesy of being a Thinkpad. My previous work laptop is a DELL Precision and that thing weighs 5X.

I would definitely buy this if I needed a portable laptop

Yah you need all that iGPU power running Excel and Youtube on your $550 1080p laptop....
First, decent gpu wouldn't hurt especially if you use any CAD or GIS softwares.

I bought this laptop two years ago with only 8gb of RAM. It's a great laptop for productivity, web browsing, etc. Its screen is very bright (brighter than the listed specs), the keyboard is fantastic and, even though it's not the thinnest laptop, it's very portable and the port selection is great. At this price it's well worth it. I play games but only retro games and this handles those just fine. Obviously, modern AAA 3D game titles are not going to run well on this. At $549 for 16gb RAM and 512gb SSD, this should easily last 3-4 years for daily portable computing needs.

Non-backlit keyboard ruins it for me.

This is a really good price for a Thinkpad with a 3 year warranty and 16gb ram. Usually at this price level we are looking at 1 year warranty and 8gb ram for premium business notebooks like Thinkpads.

Non backlit keyboard is the only major con.

Eh, there are other laptops with better CPUs and screens, and worse cases, at this price point. Trade offs. This is by no means a surprising or outstanding deal.

Note: I use a thinkpad. This is about as sad as thinkpads can come at this point.
What better CPU with 15W tdp you can get?

Do you think this Laptop and its specs would be able to at least run Age of Empires Definitive Edition smoothly?
