Lenovo is notorious for putting exaggerated MSRPs on their site to make it look like they have crazy sales, when in reality this was always the street price. They are basically mattress retailers.

Just a heads up, this seems like a Non Backlit keyboard. Probably not a deal breaker, but just something to keep in mind

Do you think this Laptop and its specs would be able to at least run Age of Empires Definitive Edition smoothly?
Easy. I do at 1080p on an older Ryzen 2500u.

This is a basic office/productivity laptop. No real bells and whistles. Nothing to really knock it for, 16Gigs of Ram is fine for the intended market even if it's not upgradable.

That being said, the price doesn't feel like a "deal" per se just a normal price for a laptop using a 2 generation old CPU.

If it had the 6000 series and some better components (screen/ram or SSD) then it would be a deal. Otherwise it's serviceable but a meh value.

You can't just look at specs. ThinkPad X series Laptops are built to a different standard than your average IdeaPad or Pavilion. I don't think you can find another enterprise-class Zen 3 ultraportable with decent screen, 16GB RAM, and 3-yr warranty for this price.

First, decent gpu wouldn't hurt especially if you use any CAD or GIS softwares.
Great, you want to do CAD or whatever, buy an appropriate laptop

Not understanding why Thinkpads cost more makes me doubt that you're actually a software engineer.

It is convenient. I used it once. Parts were quickly shipped to my address. An IBM technician showed up 24 hours later and fixed my laptop.

Better deal than an XPS 9315 w/i7 at $750? Have a desktop that I use for most wfh+gaming, but would like to have a laptop that can sub in and reasonably drive a 4k external display for wfh in a pinch.

Not to crap on people crapping on this laptop, but this machine is completely linux native, with automatic inux firmware updates. It may seem like a POS to most, but it has more longevity than it first appears. This is basically a second gen AMD Advantage laptop with full linux support.
