So you knowingly sold a store a defective electronics item but you think it's them who is the problem?

You guys can just order these through valve Refurbished as of today. No need to deal with GameStop.

Deck is so good. Get the cheap one and update the m2 storage watching one of the many youtube videos. That way you can check the inside for issues while you are there.

Linux desktop is great to do just futz around great apps and I like using Edge there! I have a 128gb SD card setup to boot to windows 11 without a hitch for work. Once you have the bootloader boot to the SD card it keeps on booting to SD until you remove the SD card, or just tell it to stop again in bootloader. So it just decides it is a windows device until you tell it to stop. Windows 11 runs flawlessly now, but I really do prefer the SteamOS. I can't believe how put together it is. So game centric! It is crazy Valve did this.

Just crazy. I can get Forza 5 running in Deck mode no problem at 56-60fps nice and smooth. Just love it. You have to get Forza 5 seasonal cars in a week and when you are on vacation you can still get them after the day is done. Diablo 4 runs smoothly at 40fps high settings. You can usually figure out the right settings to make anything look great on that smaller screen.

I have a 16 core 3070 with 4k and would rather run on deck at 720p all day.

I was a broke teenager at the time. But the point is I'm likely far from the only person who has done it.

I've seen their trade in testing. They put a disc in for a few seconds and that's basically it. Hardware can have all sorts of issues that won't show up from doing that. It's just not worth taking the chance on for such a small discount.
Shady as HECK! You are knowingly returning a broken device for credit as a healthy device, and letting Gamestop foot the bill. I don't care how you spin it as Gamestop being the evil empire, or what have you, but it's not the ethical thing to do.

The refurbished is available now at the same price as the summer sale price. If you purchased new during summer sale you did better. Now if there is a sale on the refurbished unit at any point that would be a slick deal.
No, the 64GB model was only 10% off during the summer sale at $360. The refurbished model $40 less expensive than the summer sale (20% off total).

Links don't work
try another browser, gamestop doesn't like my primary one either.

I think I was reading something that indicated to me that the 64GB is the way to go as you can add a SSD in the open slot and not worry about cloning anything. I think it is M.2 but the shorter ones so there's less options than all these ~$35 1TB deals that have been popping up.

If you're considering this, do yourself a favor and just get a brand new one. I'm a big console guy and I've bought refurbs to no issues back back when i was a broke college student. the steam deck unfortunately has major QA issues, my new one developed that I barely used developed squeaking noises for the touchpad in 3 months time. And so many issues of this and that from steam deck owners online that you are much better off getting one with a warranty than without.

I'm sure teenage you never did anything "shady as heck". You must have been perfect.

Usually it's the ones who cast stones that have the biggest skeletons in their closets.

GameStop hasn't accepted Steamdecks as trade ins so these are most likely all from Valve. I'm assuming from people sending back Steamdecks they had problems with. Valve probably refurbed them themselves, but since they haven't sold any refurbs on their own site, partnered with GameStop to unload them.
I just watched a video this morning talking about Valve selling refurbished Steam Decks for nearly the exact same prices. I think you could very well be correct. Personally, I'm not interested but if I were, I'd imagine a consumer would be much better off ordering from Valve.

Edit: Just saw the post on page 2 that elaborated on the Valve/GS arrangement and with that said, I'd definitely avoid buying from GameStop. As a console gamer with a fair bit of knowledge on the subject, I wouldnt take that chance. I know too many people that have bought refurbished from GS and had all the horror stories you have probably heard such as broken consoles, roaches inside, etc.

I would NEVER buy used hardware from GS. I've traded in broken hardware myself in the past. I had a RROD 360 and used the towel trick to get it to work just long enough to pass their "testing" and got like $200 credit for it towards a PS3.

And you have almost no time to return anything for a cash refund. Spend a little extra and get a new one. Steam Decks have been getting 15% discounts during the major Steam sales for those who didn't know.
Look at the message above your post. States GameStop has never taken trade ins on this and these refurbs are from Valve directly.

Valve has said the GameStop units were not refurbished by Valve. That may not be true, but that's what they've said.
