These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they want: They are allowed to go outside.
  • After the previous sheriff leaves the silo in a terrifying ritual, Juliette, a mechanic from the down deep, is suddenly and inexplicably promoted to the head of law enforcement. With newfound power and with little regard for the customs she is supposed to abide, Juliette uncovers hints of a sinister conspiracy. Tugging this thread may uncover the truth . . . or it could kill every last human alive.

*INCLUDES ORIGINAL NEW ESSAY "A HISTORY OF THE DARKEST YARNS" FROM HUGH HOWEY*

"One of dystopian fiction's masterpieces alongside the likes of 1984 and Brave New World." — Daily Express

Read the books. This is my favorite series of all time, and I'm a retired literature professor.
The Penny Arcade guys loved it.
Apple made a bajillion dollar show off it.
The author is nearly a household name from it.

This is where it started.

As a note, there's a collection of short stories he has that includes stories from the SILO world. One of them is technically a sequel. The author's note after that short is one of the best bits of advice on writing ever... but it absolutely shouldn't be read until after the trilogy and story. Worth the journey.
The whole trilogy ebook was 1.99 in March.
Really enjoyed the first season of the show. Hoping that the show is popular enough they're able to finish the series. I read the first book probably a decade ago but got the audiobooks to listen through once I finish Project Hail Mary (again).

Thanks! I very much enjoyed the first season and anxious for the second. I don't do a lot of reading, but might for this one.

I think it was. And Apple is not Netflix and won't abandon their fans a suboptimal performance.

I read all three books. I must be forgetting something, I thought it was pretty true to the book, however I've not yet watched episodes 9 and 10 yet. Is it here that it diverges?
Highlight to read [SPOILER]

No, the book tells you about the screens and visor in the very beginning.

This series is so good! I just finished the tv show season 1 and am re-reading the books right now actually. The TV show is definitely different, but makes for some great watching and is probably for the better since a lot of what makes the book great may not have translated well to a visual medium without some changes.

In my eyes, Hugh Howey can do no wrong. Project Hail Mary, The entire Silo series, Hugh Howey Must Die, etc. He is to Science-Fiction what Ken Follett is to Historical Fiction. Do yourself a favor and buy at this price point

Project Hail Mary was written by Andy Weir - but, the two authors are similar and produce great books! If you like one, you'll like the other.

Beacon 23 was another great book by Hugh Howey.

I just binged the season 1 of SILO this last weekend and the immediately went to reddit to to get an opinion on the book and a lot of people mentioned that the book being very different from the series in terms of the ending which got me a little more excited to make this purchase at such a good price.
I will try my best to "binge" this book this coming weekend Big Grin

Crap. Good point. You're right. I may have put my favorite Space Sci-fi author (The Martian, Project Hail Mary) in the same token as Hugh Howey.

Beacon 23 WAS a great book. What a rollercoaster!

I haven't read the e-book in a decade but I checked it out recently and they have added pictures into it. Might be worth a look again

Amazon.com is very deceiving. I have it on Kindle but doesn't show I ever purchased it.

Where are you looking? If you go to orders, there's a tab for digital orders. It doesn't default to it

I'm super lost. I didn't even know they started to make a show about this book. So the book posted here is not the same as the Hugh Howey book one? This is the shows version of book one?

Loved this series, and the entire family loved Project Hail Mary! They were both great for car trips. The kids wanted to keep driving just to listen to Project Hail Mary Wink

Loved Hail Mary!
