I think pork shoulder is amazing if cooked low and slow. Chicken thighs are underappreciated in the States. For instance, for fried chicken in some other countries they actually charge extra for dark meat and let you substitute chicken breasts free of charge for drumsticks and thighs. For beef: brisket, London broil marinated, and chuck roast for pot roast.

In terms of lower prices on meat in general, you should check out Costco Business Center if you have one near you.

They have some lower quality cuts of meat compared to regular Costco, but also cheaper. This is the same meat that many restaurants serve, so still good. Of course, you might be able to beat those prices at the local supermarket if you catch them on sale.

Spam used to be for poor people, or Hawaiian people.

Now it's more expensive per lb, even on sale, than a good cut of pork loin.

Seriously. Used to be that ox tails were practically free. Now the prices are comparable to decent cuts of steak.

Oysters and lobsters used to be for 'poor' people too. Guess when something's good it's hard to keep it secret.

That says more about factory pork processing than it does about Spam.

Soooo what are the "value" meat cuts that I can now buy up before they get popular and skyrocket in price?

Wow what happened I just bought a 12 pack of spam for $25 last week from Amazon. Beat even Costcos price on sale, now it's up to $34!

Pork loin doesn't cook and can itself into shelf-stable food though.
