Pretty solid little machine, got mine when it launched seems to work well with an all metal hotend to boot. Software could use a bit of work but you can also just use prusa slicer or cura slicer for what its worth. i think for the price even at $399 when its not on sale its a solid little machine.

I have a M5 from Kickstarter and now the M5C. Once you get used to the app you don't miss the controls on the printer. I usually start the print from my computer, wonder over to the printer to check on the first layer once it been running for a minute, and that's usually the gist of my work flow. I rarely need controls and when I do need them I just open the app the change it. The speeds in the app are live as well, similar to how klippper displays the speed.

I ended up caving and getting x1c but if i were buying my first printer, it would for sure either be the p1p or p1s.

The amount of time you save vs finicking with a 2-400 dollar printer pays the difference pretty fast imo.

X1C + AMS is a dream setup! Inexpensive printers are getting good nowadays, they do require one time manual bed levelling but other than that, speed is the only tangible difference for the average consumer.

I went into 3D printing with zero experience by Kickstarting the M5, which is basically the same as the M5C (except for having a touchscreen and camera and marginally larger build volume). It pretty much just works. Super easy assembly, full auto-leveling, heated magnetic spring-steel PEI bed, and a beginner-friendly PC app that also makes detailed parameters available to tweak if you need to. I've had to clear a clogged nozzle once and re-run the auto-leveling routine once in awhile, but this isn't the same as the old Ender 3s when it comes to usability and QoL features. The M5C at $370 is a legitimate option versus the $600-700 Bambus.

Everyone always says "get something better" but this conversation is a perfect example of what is wrong with that. First person says spend $200 more for the P1P. Next person says, go with the P1S. Now this comment saying go with the X1C with Multi Material. I agree those are better printers and our worth their price, but at a cost from your wallet. This is a solid machine at an affordable price and was exactly what I needed.

$200 is a lot of money, and honestly for the difference in performance? i dont think that the P1S preforms $200 "better" just has a different feature set for a different user. For budget printers M5C is REALLY good

Good deals right now with the hype around core XY machines. I'm sure Anker and sovol are clearing out to announce their versions. I run my "bed slinger" way more because the extruder on that one is better. That's been the actual weak point on most of the machines.

Okay, if you decide to buy a Bambu, then it will be unwise not to buy a P1S with an enclosure and other updates for just $100 more. Then, you will spend another $250 for the AMS. So $200 more will become $550+ more.

Ankermake or the Sovol SV07 with Klipper for $261 is a fantastic deal.

A lot of fear-uncertainty-doubt from people who's last printer was an Ender 3 that comes as a bag of parts and the cheapest possible components.

Klipper is a big deal; watch trustworthy reviews that show assembly so you can avoid the big-bag-o-parts; look for an all metal hot end that supports 300c; auto leveling bed; direct drive extruder; magnetic PEI print surface; wifi remote operaton. Buy from a source that is easy to return in case you get a dud. Microcenter is often competitive and easy to buy from.

I have an FLSun that has all of that but currently you can get the Sovol, the Ankermake and few others for a lot less. I expect the Ender k1 to end up at a similar price point. If you can find a deal for the S1 Pro with a Klipper pad, consider that also. I always prefer open source rather than closed systems. This is Slickdeals; Bambu gives you a bit more but for significantly more money. That's not slick.

Check out the speed for these two reviews:

The FLsun v400 is also a good choice although close in price to Bambu at $649. It's crazy fast and very, very quiet: https://www.microcenter.com/produ...3d-printer

S1 Pro $359: https://www.microcenter.com/produ...3d-printer

Good luck!

Have one, and for the price - it's a great printer for beginners and most anyone who doesn't need what comes at 2x the price. You can get buy much better printers, but you will pay for it.
