FYI, same discount code is also good for $700 off the X3800H (drops from $1700 to $1000).

Bro I bought the receivers with my money for what works best for me. Not some troll on internet who has a Denon and wants to feel good about his purchase.

One reason...3800 has Audyssey xt32 which is a big jump over the Audyssey version in the 2800.

When I click through the specs on the specific x2800h model, it just says xt, not xt32. Not sure what you're seeing but something is getting mixed up
Yep all good. I cant read.

If it wasn't for the fact I'm well outside my return window, I'd seriously consider returning my pioneer Elite 305 refurb I paid $700 and pay 1k for the 3800h instead. I am hating the pioneer. It takes 10 seconds or more to switch sources and half the time it won't wake up the PC when I switch to it and I have to do a hard shut down. Time to use that warranty I think.

Bestbuy did not match the price because of coupon. Tried because I have their membership.

9.4 vs 7.2 is the huge upgrade. This allows you to run 7.1.2 ( great for PS5/XBox) or 5.1.4 (4 Atmos height channels). It also offers 11.4 channels of processing (if you run your fronts off an external amp). It might only have an extra 10watts/channel, but the power supply is 660watts vs 500watts.

I would point out/add, the sub outs on the 2800 are mono not independent.
It also does not include Sub EQ HT which gives you directional setting. It's been a very nice benefit for me!

You also get preamp mode and not to mention being able to add Dirac Live.

I am aware of 20$ app. What is the 200$ app you referring about?
It's called Audyssey MultEQ-X here is the link.
It is compatible to some legacy models.

Though my last 2 receivers have been rock solid DENONs I am reading too much rave about the Onkyo RZ50 and thinking about grabbing one of those instead of the 3800H- Not in any rush though, but 3800H for 1000 is sure a bargain price

Not to deter you from the RZ50 which is a good AVR especially if you will be fully dependent on the internal amps.

This may or may not be a benefit for you, a few differences to consider(if you haven't).

The RZ50's sub outs are both mono.
The amps aren't fully assignable.
So if you expand to 11 channels, channels 10 & 11 have to be powered externally.
It doesn't offer pre amp mode.
Very likely it will not get the option to add Dirac's DLBC RC.

I recently added a CamelCamelCamel price watch for the 3800 with Amazon having it at $1299 New or $119 Like New. This is super tempting (and I might pull the trigger), but it's not $700 savings from the street price.

I really wish they would give Audyssey MultiEQ X32 to the lower level receivers for a price bump. I in no way need this many channels, but I really want that level of room correction.

Have you looked at Onkyo 7100 or Pioneer 305.
The 7100 has gone down to $800, the 305 was less.
They both include Dirac.

Anybody getting Adorama's extended warranty? They emailed me about whether I wanted to add it but I've never really heard anything about it's pros and cons with regards to Denon AVRs

I haven't, really. I hear good things about Dirac. I'll need to look into whether there are various "levels" of Dirac. I know with Audyssey, The difference between X32 and anything below is quite large from the correction adjustments I've seen online.

Are there any good independent review sites out there that do not review receivers from the same companies that advertise on their website or in their magazine?

Dirac divides it's Room Correction algorithms in two.

Dirac Live for loud speakers & Dirac Live Bass Control(DLBC) for subwoofers.

Dirac Live is divided in two offerings:
Limited Bandwidth(20Hz-500Hz) for $259
Full Bandwidth for $349(or $99 more from Limited).

Dirac Live Bass Control(DLBC) is also divided in two offerings:
DLBC-Single Subwoofer for $349
DLBC-Multi Subwoofer for $499(or $169 more from single)
