Doesn't seem to be a good deal, same or similar model is on clearance at Lowes:

https://www.lowes.com/pd/Samsung-...1003081538

The reviews on there indicate some issues with Samsung freezing coils, poor customer service and cheap shelves.

No it's a Samsung. I would get their tv, but not appliances.

@ming1981 how long have you owned this refrigerator? I have a similar model about 7 yrs old, with similar looking back panel and for past 3 years, our freezes up every 2-5 weeks. I wouldn't touch this thing if Costco gave it away. There is a tiktok user https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8N6dvkj/
that informs regarding this defect and thousands of people have gotten full refunds, even after being years out of warranty. My case wasn't worth pursuing since my unit is among the oldest affected by this horrible design and Samsungs customer support obstructs for months before doing anything. It should really be a class action suit. I will never buy Samsung appliances again.

The Beauty of this entire thread...is that many of those who've read the comments about Samsung and LG Quality issues, will be forever scarred from ever purchasing any appliance from these two manufacturers.

Their products are NOT reliable in the grand scheme of things when compared to the overall quality of say, a GE, Whirlpool, Kitchen-Aid, or Maytag (look for only the ones made in USA).

DON'T believe Consumer Reports either! They DON't take into account LONG TERM reliability. I bought my last washer/dryer set (Samsung) based upon extensive research, followed up with Consumer Report reviews of the set I purchased. After two years, it's been nothing but trouble - so bad that Samsung even just refunded me the money I paid for the washer!

I know these stories are one-off's, but there have been far too many one-off's IRT Samsung and LG appliances.

Also, one last point - stay FAR away from all the bells and whistles on your appliances. They just lead to complexities that have to be dealt with later and $$$$ for repairs. For a fridge, you just need something the cools and freezes. If there IS an ice maker, ONLY buy a fridge with an ice-maker that is IN THE FREEZER - a ice-maker in the refrigerator compartment is just asking for future trouble (Ask any appliance service person).

Note: the comments above were partially derived upon my own conversations with appliance service techs who came to my home to work on my Samsung.

I have a samsung fridge, they are definitely not the best with warranty. I had to constantly contact them to fix a fridge, had a service tech come 3 times to my house and did not fix the issue. Ended up reading on reddit to leave my fridge off for 2 days so the coils could defrost. Did that and my fridge started working. No tech ever said anything like that.

The one at Lowes is $96 more expensive. They also charge an extra $150 and for 3-year protection and $50 for the haul away, while Costco offers both for free.
Oh I completely agree that Costco is a far better place to purchase than lowes, my post was just a heads up that it's not that a great of a deal and linking the reviews since costco didn't have any.

Based on just reviews on Costco website itself, how many refrigerators do you guys see having better reviews than this ? It is 4.4 on 900 reviews and I don't see Maytag, Whirlpool or GE getting any better reviews than this. What am I missing here ?

I think you are missing that most reviews are written and posted shortly after purchase and don't consider long term reliability, only initial impressions.

If you want to buy it. Knock yourself out. But I can tell you that I would not even consider another Samsung. Every Samsung appliance I have ever owned as been a nightmare. Especially the fridge.

Do not EVER buy a Samsung fridge. If you don't believe me, do a Reddit search.

I don't plan on using the ice maker at all, so I'm not worried about ice problems, but I'm not pulling the plug because the depth seems crazy big like it doesn't make sense, or maybe I haven't seen fridges like this. It's 36" deep, that can't be right. First issue seems It wouldn't go through my doorway, second issues is it will stick out into my kitchen like a sore thumb. Is it really that big? Sucks since I get anxiety making decisions like this, but this is my sweet spot price and my wife wanted French Doors but the prices were crazy high! 😐

Edit: Did some research and this isn't a counter depth fridge that's why. I can't use this! 😑

Here's my appliance history :

Refrigerator:

Kenmore: died after 18 years.
Whirlpool: died after 5 years.
Samsung French Doors: Used for 14 years and still going strong. Recently upgraded to a 28 cu ft model last month since the new one was priced at $1000, making it too good of a deal to pass up.

Washer:

Maytag: Developed a bad leak after two years and eventually stopped working after 15 years.
Kenmore front load: Used for five years without any issues, but I decided to purchase a larger Samsung Washer with a Government rebate under the Cash for Appliance program. It lasted for 14 years.

Dryer:

Maytag: After 15 years, a $15 relay went bad. I replaced the relay, and the dryer continued to function, lasting a total of 34 years.

Stove:

Replaced a builder-grade stove after 22 years of use. While fully functional, I decided to upgrade to a $2000 Kitchenaid stove. However, this stove proved disappointing as I had to replace ignitors eight times and a motorized door switch. Finally, the oven stopped working after 13 years. The numerous issues were unexpected given the stove's high price.

Last year, my sister replaced a GE stove top with a Bosch model. Shortly after the replacement, the Bosch stove began experiencing issues with maintaining the flame after ignition.

I think to get it through the door, they take out the fridge door or fridge handle to get it in, and then assemble.

Thanks for the reply, but I think other reviews must be same way for other brands too, right.?
I am not planning to use ICE MAKER or water dispenser . Will update how it goes .

Once the coil freezes over it stops the circulation fan. Have to pull it all apart and dethaw it, use a hair dryer to dry everything. And hope you get the trim and insulation back together or it will do it again a week later.
Haha….I remember doing exactly what you described…those were the painful times owning that Samshit fridge….wasted a lot of time having to do that routine every week. So happy it's gone forever. And that was 5 years ago! And can't believe the same issue has never gotten resolved to this day!!!!
