If you're going to use this behind anything, make sure you have enough room. It looks like this is 2 3/4" deep. Guessing the prongs add another inch, meaning you need close to 4" just to plug it into the wall outlet. Then you have to add the depth of the plug and prongs of whatever you're plugging into it.
I would have liked to use this behind a bookcase that is against a wall, but I'd have to pull the bookcase away from the wall each time I had to plug or unplug something. As it is now, it's tricky without the extender, and would be impossible with it.
