I don't like TP-Link's software and for added security, they try to charge you a monthly fee.

sigh i don't know if it's this site or it's just the internet but petey, you're propagating wrong information. it's not the same.

wifi 6 does not combine the bands. these routers do have the "capability" to switch between bands depending the signal integrity. In fact, my Wifi 4 nighthawk had this, so this isn't the same thing.

the massive throughput you are talking about is exactly what i was pointing out. wifi 7 COMBINES the bands, as in the device will communicate with all bands simultaneously.

"Additionally, Wi-Fi 7 will introduce Multi-Link Operation (MLO) technology, which allows devices to simultaneously send and receive data over multiple radio bands to create a single aggregated connection. This will not only provide faster throughput performance, but will also help reduce latency and allow data to flow unimpeded by network traffic or interference."

https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/wi-f...eless-spec

also wifi 7 hits a theoretical 48Gbps, not 12. did you even research anything before you starting typing? it took me 5 seconds to google this.

A router intelligently switching (and very poorly) between 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands under a single SSID is NOT the same as MLO. It does NOT combine the speeds. do you understand?

the router is NOT using both bands to communicate with devices simultaneously when using smart connect. the speeds are not additive, it's one or the other. Also, this technology is very poorly implemented. if you knew anything about networking, you would already know this, but you seem brand new. Considering you thought this was a Wifi 6 feature when it's been around since Wifi 4 seems pretty evident of what you think you know. humble yourself.

MLO is additive and is a completely different technology that cannot be back ported. I'm sure you have difficulty understanding that, but I'm not writing this for you, but more for people who have decent reading comprehension as to not be misinformed by you.

And no where on the internet does it state there are real world results of 12Gbps. I mean if it did, I'm sure you're ready to provide some references just like you did with you netgear kb article. Strange you didn't choose to put a reference for this, right?

good luck in life, you must have some real difficulties. why go around spreading misinformation is beyond me, but you do you.

I bought a TP link product which worked great until
My iSP had an outage at which point it bricked itself and even a hard reboot wouldn't make it work. Lesson learned go with a reputable name brand (Asus) as many have mentioned.

Gotcha, good chance the price will stick around for a while or if not it will change and than after a month go back to this same price. Costco does that a lot with items, so you can probably afford to wait, but you probably wont find anything better than this for around $200, if thats the other concern.

Is this project still active? I haven't seen this since black and blue Linksys 54G routers. Lol
That and Tomato lol

But for real, why does this thing have so many antennas lmao. CYBORG INTERWEB DARKNET HAXXOR vibe must be their target market (i. e. 17 yr old boys)

I will say getting 3 of these and using in mesh mode would likely smoke anything in the $600 range, handily. Hell I dropped my $1400+ Unifi setup for a Linksys 6E mesh system that made the Unifi setup seem junky

Should I buy this or wait till Black Friday? I won't need it for that long.
If you won't need it for very long why not just get it now?

Those two routers are in different league when it comes to capability. TP-Link has WiFi 6E, Tri-Band, Multi-Gig WAN port, and likely has better internal hardware. However, ASUS has great reputation with firmware updates and open-sourcing their firmware for third-parties.

I have ASUS RT-AC68u and ASUS RT-AX3000.
When I enable the OpenVPN(NordVPN) function in the firmware, both's speeds are throttling around 50Mbps due to a slow CPU.
So, looking for a router with a fast CPU to run OpenVPN without speed throttling.

Does this have a good CPU? If not, any recommended router for my purpose?

Honestly the only good way to provide larger coverage is external amplified antennas, while they look unsightly a internal antenna will never in its smaller compact enclosure ever provide the same reach as a external. If I am to guess most 3K sqft homes should be covered by this, judging from experience with previous AX80/AX32/AX10000 that I seen.

As for mesh this does not work with mesh units using mesh, but if you got a hardwire to the location you can run it as an Access Point along with TP-Link Mesh or other TP-Link routers. Its surprising to some but common, how many times high end consumer beats out more business oriented hardware.

Not even in the same ball park, this has it beat in every category across the board. The only reason to go with Asus is if you like their firmware and like their AiMesh. Asus still offers one of the most robust stock firmwares of any manufacture and still includes network security for free.

This router is a better version of the Asus AXE11000 if you want a more fair comparison.

Quad 1.7Ghz CPU with 512MB should not really have a problem with OpenVPN, if there is still issues its probably your provider or company VPN with the issue.

Modems are all dependent on your ISP because they have a list of what will work with their system, and also what will work with your service level. So its not as easy as just giving you a model number.

Been using this for a few months as an upgrade to the older version with only 5ghz and it'a worked very well so far. I wish I had 6E devices to take advantage of it. Not sure why people don't like the software, it's very user friendly and if you want more advanced settings they are available for you tio

I have a TP-Link Archer AX6000. It's a solid router, but I'm probably going to have to replace it as my home network's core... because last heard, none of these "OneMesh" TP-Links support wired backhaul for mesh.
