I posted it because it's the best price per TB that I found for brand new HDD for the past week or so. And I think most people trust Toshiba more than Seagate for drives.
This is new as well and doesn't have tax for most, and more likely to be packed well. So in every measurable way its a better deal.
Only buy from Seagate if you don't value your data. Stopped buying from Seagate after 2009 since alll their drives fail within a 3 year span for me.

Honestly, why this over brand new from AMZ https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...RSN9T&th=1 [amazon.com]
I get it it is 2 TB less but it is brand new, warranty from Seagate and definitely gives you piece of mind it won't be DOA and has better data integrity.

Really? I bought a couple of new X20s from the same dealer here. They are not noisy as claimed in the SD post. Shall I return them and stick to WD Red Pros.

I trust Seagate for its high-end hard drives. I trust Toshiba for its SSD's, but not its hard drives. All with a grain of salt. It's more important to have a steady and stable power to your hard drives. Buy and use the best power strip and power supply unit that you can afford.

Man i see more segates failing in my shop than any other brand. HGST/WDReds and Toshiba were my top pics for a long time.

I personally would stick with WD red pros. If you look at the backblaze data, seagate has consistently always had higher failure rates than other brands. I'm biased due to my own personal experience with bad seagate drives tho so that's why I never buy from them no matter how good of a deal.

How does Toshiba compare to WD? How is the warranty process? $13.85/TB is tempting. Might get instead of Red Pros.

Edit: Based on a quick Google search, warranty process is bad with Toshiba. No advance RMA, takes months, send Visa gift card instead of replacement.

Toshiba and Hitachi are old school manufacturers with very strict quality control. My two favorite HD companies. WD third and Seagate last.

Yea, i'm glad I'm not the only person who has had bad experiences with Seagate. Seagate does charge lower prices for a reason. The quality just isnt there.

I've had bad experiences with Seagate consumer drives but this was like 15 years ago. Is Seagate still that bad? Are the Data Center drives any worse?
