Have the 800 series and it's ridiculous how quiet it is. I know why they put the light on the floor now to know it's running. FYI to anyone else that buys a BOSCH know they have a traditional plug and not just three wire setup like a normal dishwasher.

I sell appliances. Bosch 800 series is excellent. Most superior dry system of any dishwasher and great reliability. They are dumping old stock because the new model is just starting to ship.
If you are in the market for a new one get this even if it's out of budget. Don't bother with any other Bosch series number, they won't have the crystal dry system.
The new 800 series has a different wash system that has a double rotating sprayer arm to cover more area, and different intensity sprays for the 4 quadrants. Cool changes, but there was no need to change anything with how solid the last model was. Definitely recommend it. Only thing better is probably a Miele.

Interested in other opinions on this.

I have a 500 series that didn't last 5 years and so I'm a bit reluctant. Looks like all makes and models have bad reviews these days

Been waiting for this as well. Sadly when you add back in installation and removal of old dishwasher, it basically goes back up to full retail price (or a little more). Anyone have any coupons to stack?

Just installed this. Pretty easy to install for a first timer. However, the tub smells a little like burnt plastic, and the inside was damp when I first opened it. Is this normal, and will the burnt smell go away? Going to run out a few times to see if the smell will go away.
Was with mine. Smell has gone away

Unless you have really hard water in your area, I'd avoid the model with the built-in water softener. I'm also not a fan of the towel bar handle, I had one of those many years ago and my pants pockets are at a height that they would occasionally get caught if I was walking close to the dishwasher. Sucks when you rip the pocket on a pair of nice chinos.

I just replaced my 8.5 year old Bosch 800 that had a built-in softener (model #SHP7PT55UC). I bought from a local reputable appliance dealer who swayed me to an 800 with the salt tank (vs. non-salt tank version) because they had high customer feedback that the feature really improved dish cleaning. For reference, the water hardness in our area is around 120, at the high-end of the "moderately hard" range. I used the salt (made by Finish - order from Amazon) for the first 3-4 years and stopped using it because:
  • The salt left a film over time on glass. It was much worse on some metal objects like baking sheets and cheaper pots which developed a black/grayish dust.
  • I believe the salt contributed to the demise of the racks. Over time, the protective enamel on the rack tines is going to get scratched or cracked through normal use. I believe the salted water got into those areas and accelerated rust to the point that they broke off. Eventually this happened in so many places on my racks that it was getting to be a PITA loading/unloading dishes. I've had several dishwashers in my lifetime that never developed such a problem. My parents' Bosch 500 series also never had this issue.
I was quoted like $200-something for each rack and replacing them didn't make sense to put that $$$ into an 8.5-year old dishwasher when Bosch says they design their washers to last at least 8-10 years. When I saw this Home Depot model on sale last weekend at Best Buy, I jumped on it (especially since my TotalTech membership hasn't switched to their new program yet, thus I got free installation). I like the new dishwasher. The racks are a little different, maybe with improved materials, and the Crystal Dry feature is much better than my previous model, which honestly dried OK if you ran the dishwasher overnight.
Agreed to ripping your pants, as well as having your toddler run into the corner of those handles. Recessed handles are the way to go for us people.

When I was a kid advertisers said transistors have no moving parts and should last infinitely. That was the great promise in automobiles which I note with many of the upper echelon vehicles such as highly featured Mercedes become hard to repair after 10 years due to all the electronics. Can I ask what did you buy to replace the Bosch since it sounds like you didn't replace the main board. If you did get a replacement, how do you like it?
As someone who replaced 4 boards in my Whirlpool, I can tell you it is an (intentionally?) stupid design, not the transistors. In the Whirlpool, the board sits in the door and the steam from drying dishes is discharged through the same door as well. The heating element is powered through a relay on the board as well. After enough of heat cycles through an undersized connector get combined with the humidity from the steam. The connector eventually gets loose and corroded, drawing more and more power and eventually explodes the board. A $5 in connector or maybe $10 in wires to relocate the board would have fixed the problem.

I was looking at this as well. IMO, it's the better model.

Few items I could see different between the two:
  • External Handle
  • Built in Water Softener (Salt tank inside)
  • Home Connect enabled
  • 7 wash cycle (vs 6)
  • Color matched kick panel (Maybe Stainless?) vs black rubber (bottom plate under the door)
  • Made in Germany - Bosch specifically states this model is made in Germany on their website

This model would be $1,350 MSRP. Here is product page:

Here's the comparo:

Hmm... Having a tough time deciding. I think I prefer the pocket handle, and with coupon quite a bit cheaper for me (I don't value the installation, I can do that myself... saw someone mention getting Costco to reimburse if you don't need the installation but not sure if that is a common thing or that person got lucky). I don't think I need the water softener, I already have a home softener. I think it would be maybe nice to have the wifi connectivity but overall I'd guess it wouldn't get used much in my house (and I do have a smart home with homeassistant). I could see the remote start feature being helpful, but if this is as quiet as people say then I probably don't need it (I would remote start/delay it while watching TV/movie).

Ok here is an update. You can stack coupon with already 25% off. I bought 10% online coupon for $11.50 from huge com with code 10p. I was able to get for $871 + TAX.
With tax OTD $960

Edit: 15% off for $50 wouldn't make big differences as its cost 50 bucks.
educate me please, what is huge dot com? Prescribed E.D. Medicine Online??

Thanks much for your experience. I will look at the parts diagram. You gave me some good ideas.

Probably nothing will last you 15 years today. Not even Miele.

does CrystalDry mean this does not have the heating element in the bottom of the tub? CrystalDry is some sort of fan with heat-generating minerals magic.
It uses a special mineral that gets hot when moisture is absorbed. Zeolite I think.

The stainless steel retains heat , that's makes water evaporate, which is absorbed by that mineral and it heats the tub more. Cycle continues.

To aid that cycle more, they are also the only company to insulate their dishwasher with asphalt which again aids with heat retention.

This is a great machine. I bought the 800 series 7 years ago at Sears, it was an open box and negotiated it down to $400 USD... Super quiet (you have to make sure it's full, if it's 50% load or less it makes some weird noises sometimes). Gorgeous, super clean dishes ... All stainless.
