And the value retention of gaming laptops has always been atrocious. The decision isn't Windows vs Mac. It's gaming laptop vs non-gaming laptop.
If you only plan to use this around the house, and just don't want to be chained to a desk with a gaming desktop, then look into remote gaming options like Steam Remote Play (formerly Steam Link). The game runs on your gaming PC, but the display (and control inputs) are shunted to your laptop (or tablet or phone) via your home network. Gaming desktops at least hold their value a bit better than gaming laptops.
Since about 2010, all GPUs have had a hardware h.264 encoder built-in. This lets you convert video into a highly compressed data stream in real time. So it's trivial to stream games (what made Twitch possible). For the receiving computer it's doing the same thing as playing a streamed movie from Netflix. The only downsides are latency, and pixelation during lots of fast action. Oh, it's also not always stable.
The plus side is that since the game is running on your gaming PC and your laptop is basically just streaming a movie, it'll barely impact the laptop's battery. You can easily play for 6-8 hours unplugged on your patio. Whereas a gaming laptop will only last 1-2 hours on battery.

But I've been unsuccessful so far. It'll have the ram to maintain near 4080/3080 speeds in next gen games. There are 2 on ebay, and nearly gone, but the price is now insane.
In any case, both AMD and Nvidia dropped the ball this APU release cycle. They are right back where there were in actual performance from a year ago, talking into consideration the 9GB Vram req most new games have now.
Anywho, these are just first world issues. Not a big deal. Except for the AI gpu shortage... ah well. C'est la vie.
