Dang. It's always Costco with deals.
*Cries in sams club membership*

Edit: Wohoo!! I managed to get best buy to price match it. It took 3-4 hours chatting with different representatives until one finally budged and gave me the price match of $512! Funny thing is I almost gave up before the last rep said they'd match it. Out of stock in my local town so I drove an hour away to a neighbor state to pick it up. My advice to anyone: keep asking new best buy chat reps. Don't get discouraged. Persistence is key. Good luck!

A. Hours on Chat while using the computer doing other things.
B. Driving an hour is not that big of a deal, especially when I had family to visit 5 minutes away from the Best Buy
C. I don't buy gas from Sams Club.
D. Local Costco had it full price, out of stock on Delivery site.

I'd still call it pretty thrifty, all points considered.
Wow, you really thought that my reply was specifically for you, huh. I'm making others aware of factors they may have overlooked, like gas 'in general', not specifically for YOU, your preferences, or your lifestyle.

But just the driving....thats $3.50/gallon, I'm guessing 4-6 gallons used minimum (plus road risk, wear/tear, time, etc), so $14-21 just on gas for one item that may be out of stock by the time you arrive (big YMMV obviously)

You aren't thrifty if you aren't doing some math.

I have been following the stock of the 55" C2's in the Marlboro NJ store. I watched the stock dwindle at the $997 price. They wouldn't budge on the price until all the boxed units were sold. It actually took a week to sell about 7 units. Called yesterday morning and was told the TV was sold out, I asked about the floor model and it was still available but at the $997 price. I returned to the store and spoke to the manager. He said he would check his system and figure out the cost of the display unit. I was expecting the $599 price but the manager came back with $499. The extended warranty was not included but I purchased it for $35. Came home and set it up. The TV does seem to work perfectly but I was shocked to see that it had 5450 hours on it. That is a lot of usage. Ran the OLED display videos that are on Youtube and the picture does seem perfect, no burn in or stuck pixels. Not the best deal, but its decent and I do have a 5 year warranty so I'm happy.
So I went back to my Costco and had a brief discussion with one of the managers. When I mentioned that I had paid for the warranty, his reaction was surprise. He then printed my receipt and was in the process of refunding the warranty when I mentioned that I was a bit surprised of the number of hours that was on the set. He then spoke to the store manager and credited me back an additional $50. So my deal got a bit slicker with the $85 refund. A 55" C2 OLED with a 5 year warranty for $450 is indeed a slick deal. BTW I stopped by PC Richards and they wouldn't go below $1000 for their open box. You gotta love Costco!

This deal is totally dead. I don't think BB has matched anyone for over three weeks. The jig is up!

I'm not even just talking about "my preferences or lifestyle". Out of stock? You realize if you place a pickup order, they reserve the item for you? Even if you factor in the price of gas on a one hour trip, it would still be thrifty. The TV is literally retailing for $1,299.99 + tax while people using the TX address like myself got it priced at $512 + tax. You would have had to drive for hours to waste the difference in gas. Even taking the worst-case scenario of your logic, the total spent on gas (533 + tax) doesn't come close to the retail. Not even factoring credit card 5% back most people probably took advantage of on Gas & TV Price Match using Discover. Ergo, thrifty.

I tried several times in my local store, they do not do price match.

Today I got it at 1000+tax.
