This is interesting. I'll check what the theatres looks like Sunday. But if rather pay 7 bucks on Tuesday to not be in a crowded theatre potentially full of people that use their phones, talk, bring babies, etc.

The only way to avoid the convenience fee for Cinemark is to join Cinemark Movie Club ($10.99+ a month, depending on your local area), which includes a movie ticket credit every month (useable for standard tickets, can be upgraded for premium formats/showings). Then purchase the tickets thru Cinemark.com or the Cinemark app using your Movie Club account. Make sure to uncheck "use movie credit" so that you save your movie ticket credit for another movie.

Movie ticket credit rolls over as long as you are subscribed to Movie Club. Ticket credits will expire six months after membership cancellation.

For 2 tickets at an AMC theatre on Aug 27, I am seeing:

Fandango $12.44
Atom $12.64
AMC Stubs $13.40 (I have AMC Stubs Insider membership)

with tax (8.25%) and convenience/ordering fees (instead of just $8.66).


Anyone know if the convenience/ordering fees be avoided by going the day of, right before showtime? (I guess you lose better selection/reservation of seats)

I booked on Cinemark site directly and I have a Movie Club membership. It cost me $20 for 5 tickets with no tax or other fees. AMC, Atom, and Fandango were charging fees for the same tickets.
