My purchase was on 7/10/23, so I'm not eligible for the 30-day price adjustment.
You can return the one you bought last month and get this oneApplause

What model of Roku device is as responsive? We've had two TCL Roku TVs, one currently in service, and I've set my father up with a Roku Streaming Stick 4K--none of them anywhere near as responsive as our Apple TV 4K 2021 model. I'm picking up one of these (price-matched at Target, thanks for the reminder @TeachMeHow) for our secondary Roku TV, because the apps are getting a bit frustrating to use per how much they lag relative to the Apple TV equipped main TV.
I still use one of the early gen roku ultras that went on sale for $49 so many years ago. It's still about as responsive as my third gen Apple TV 4K.

To be clear, they both have issues and occasionally crash while watching Netflix/Plex. This happens the most often if you turn off the device/TV directly without exiting the app or stream, but it does happen. It'll just random freeze and eventually kick me back to the home screen.

That said, I'd say both are about equal regarding general experience for non-tech people.

I do like the rechargeable remote for the Apple TV. Conversely, I like that you can get other types of remotes and use it for the Roku. It's more a matter of preference, honestly. Well, and cost.

Edit: Reminder that Roku TVs built into the television set will always suck compared to the actual box. I never liked the streaming sticks because they always cut corners to make the format fit. Similar experience with the fire TV sticks, which are dogshit in every iteration I've used.

Is this the latest model? What's the difference with this one versus the one I have? The model I have has the touchpad type remote (not sure if it's 1st gen)
This is the latest model released this past October. Toss up if they'll be releasing a new model soon-ish, as they waited 18 months between the last release.

Aside from a 50% processor (snappier interface) and 30% gpu (for games) bump, the new remote is a nice upgrade from the only-touchpad version. Also, only this newest model supports Apple Music Sing (their karaoke app).

Roku sticks are underpowered and the built in apps are even worse. The Roku Ultra (not LT) is the only Roku worth owning and represents a decent bang for the buck. The Apple TV 4k is faster/smoother and for this price is an easy decision if you're looking for a a streaming device.

Roku is simpler and equally responsive
Unless you clarify, simpler is a matter of opinion. Not clear for your comment how a screen full of icons is so complicated on Apple TV.

However certain aspects on Apple TV gimped. One example, Netflix. Netflix menu on Roku is far superior to Netflix Apple TV. Probably as punishment for Apple denying user data and 30% cut of sub.

you can't really compare the Roku TV's where the manufacturer can put whatever cheap hardware they want in there. The previous person was saying the Roku Ultra which is the top their Roku. We're talking it could possibly be a 2GB RAM vs 512MB RAM not counting processor differences. Really depends on the TV though. There are some crazy 8k Roku TV's out there but even those have 1.5gb ram.

https://developer.roku.com/docs/s...ardware.md

Also the appletv listed here is a 5 core + 4gb ram + 128gb flash. So spec wise it's definitely superior but not sure if it's worth getting rid of roku ultras for.

Nice! I snagged one as well. This will be my second set. Now I need to get rid of my 2021 models ASAP.

Edit: Cancelled my order from Costco since Target price matched. It was a hassle getting Costco to approve and ship the correct Apple TV 4K after they sent me the wrong one. Good luck!
How did target price match? Through chat?

Yup! If you use the desktop site, you can click on the contact us option and select order help. I had to do it on my S23U so that was fun, haha. You could also call Target, but I always prefer the chat option so I can pay for the order right away and verify the discount.

Can we transfer the data from 2nd to this, including the logged in apps and their login info? Anyone tried it?

Can this act as a homekit hub or would it be better to get 4th gen instead?
There's is no 4th gen 4k. This is the latest generation.
