Keep seeing these cheaper 4k cameras but I really want something with better and/or "starlight" night vision via a larger sensor, 1/2.5" is on the low end of mid-range size/performance wise. Good indoor/daytime camera though.

Image Sensor
1/2.49" CMOS Sensor
Video Resolution
3840x2160 (8.0 Megapixels) at 25 frames/sec
Lens
f=2.8mm fixed; F=2.0, with IR-cut filter

It is a terrrible cam based on the specs. People get hooked by the marketing of it being 4K which is fine but the sensor is too small and the lens F - 2.0 don't impress. Will take great daytime still photos and videos but when it gets into night motion its not good IMO.

Reolink cameras are not water resistance after each rain one of them fails (I had to use liquid electrical tape all other them ), I invested too much money to change the system if you dont have it yet dont buy find something better

New to cameras and looking to purchase some. What are some good overall numbers to look for without breaking the bank?

The other poster may have some additional insight but a breakdown more or less:
"f" (small f) is focal length, lower numbers are wider, higher numbers are more zoomed in if you will
F (big F) is aperture, lower numbers allow more light in, higher numbers less, the quantity doubles for every 1.4x change, so a F=2 is half as much light as F=1.4 which is half of F=1.0
Sensor size 1/2.5" is on the small side of mid range, 1/1.8" would be probably the largest you'll find in a mainstream affordable camera last I looked. Bigger sensor, more surface area, more light.
Frames per second, I don't get too hung up on this but lower FPS means blurrier/choppier image if something in the frame is moving quickly.

This camera is pretty meh as F=2 is on the slow end and 1/2.5" is on the small end for sensor size.

If you prioritize night vision you may also want to look for STARVIS or BSI (back side illuminated) sensors, I think many are these days but if they tout it usually the camera will be designed around low light use.

The CX-410 has specs. Go to site and download spec sheet. 1/1.8" Sensor. 1/1.2 is better but $$$. You wont find anything better than 1/1.8" from Reo. They are all far worse. Lens you want F 1.0. Again rare or Reolink. You want 30fps at max resolution to catch the motion. Most cheap cams cant do that. Except for the 2K it has the right specs. I dont know the real world performance though. Ordered and not received yet. IMO Reo provides great daylight performance but when it comes to low light motion its shit unless up really close and you got other ambiet lighting. CX-410 is best they got to offer spec wise IMO. Annke NCPT 500 also got good specs and cheap but casing is all plastic. Not sure how long it will last in the sun.

Funny.... I have six Reolink cams outside. They have worked flawless for the last five years. Rain, snow and sunlight have not affected them at all. I do pull them around every four months to clean the lens. Not a single issue with them at all.
