How long to recuperate the energy savings of a perfectly working ceiling fan that uses 60 watts. buying a DC motor fan that uses 25 watts or is it even worth the hassle
fan cost 89 +tax
energy savings 35 watts
energy cost 12 cents per kw
18.40 cents per year savings
5 years to break even

Buy a smart DC fan…you will be glad you did. 7-10 speeds and up to 70% more efficient than AC motors…and really quite.

I'm loving mine and put an watt meter on one to confirm power savings. Old fan used 30-40 watts on med 50-60 on high. New fan is 5 on low/medium 10 on med/high.

Thank you. A fan purchased recently is on this list(Stonemill 36) is much cheaper than what I paid. Getting an adjustment now. Also, it is a wonderful fan that i've turned smart with a bond hub and homebridge/homekit. DC fans are the only way to go.

You can choose to look at only fans with DC motors. There are quite a few.

The light often comes with integrated LED which is hard to change or replace. It is also often warm white at HD. Some of these come with standard light bulbs.

I purchased an AC fan and DC fan last sale. The AC one buzzed so loud I took it back. DC is the way to go

Or just get one without an integrated led
