Too much fillers
Only if they carry that model, I brought in an older model 3/8 ratchet and they wouldn't do the warranty because they didn't carry it.
I agree. When I had to replace 2 ratchets. 2 workers told me that they don't do craftsman warranty and had to go through manufacturer. One told me they could then turned around and said couldn't. Then a manager came and took care of it in 2 mins. They even upgraded my 3/8" ratchet since they didn't have the same one for free. Toon me maybe 45 mins for the whole process..
Good catch.

The made in USA ones have a special box that say made in USA.

Made in USA is not necessarily better and that appears to be the case with these Taiwan sets versus the Texas plant's sets.
Stanley Black & Decker, who holds the license to make all of the Craftsman products you see outside of the few surviving Sears stores, tried to automate as much of the production in the Texas plant as they could. But they failed to reach the volume they wanted, and evidently the quality was lacking too. It's not like SBD doesn't know how to produce in the US: their Proto hardline tools are US made, but the brand is marketed to industry and carries premium pricing.
