The extra DVDs will be shipped to subscriber's mailboxes on Sept. 29, which is also the final shipment day for the mail service. According to Netflix, people who opt in won't know if they're getting the discs or not until they show up in the mailbox."

I was told you have to sign up in the next few days, and only applies to orders after 9/29, that would mean you would have to pay for two months, $20, to get one, and maybe some other used discs without cases etc.
In addition, subscribers may request up to 10 additional discs from their inventory to receive for free in October, based on availability.
Subscribers must sign in at DVD.com/finalsurprise [netflix.com] to opt into the promotion.
New subscribers signing up at DVD.com [netflix.com] by August 29 are also eligible for the promotion.
Get up to 13 total movies for 1 monthly fee, YMMV.
this is not accurate, you have to pay for at least 2 months - $20 to get one, and maybe more used discs in October. That's why the requirement is you sign up in the next few days, so you pay for two months.
