For like $4.50 a month including a new (crappy) device every year, this crumby carrier is perfect for some.
And the phones are heavily subsidized with "free appz!", many of which you can't uninstall. They're forever-on, collecting all sorts of marketable telemetry. Oh, there's a MANDATORY update from the carrier/device? Now you get "Candy Castle Crash Bloombs TD!" installed on your device. Which is a pay-to-play game. Anywhere else, this would be considered outright malware.
It's also subsidized by a "voucher" of 3-12 month trials of various softwares, all of which I bet require a credit card to activate...hoping you forget you have them and gets renewed at full market value.
And the service plan is laughably pitiful. 1500min per year works out to be just 4 mins per day --- not even half an hour of talk time a week. Absurd. Entirely unusable for anything meaningful.

As for the free trials, I simply don't sign up for any of them.
The included service may be absurd to you, but covers me for a year easily, except possibly as additional data. Some people are light users and that's who tracfone is good for.
