Shipping starts @4.99 and I don't see a $3 option?
the plastic part of this will melt at above 122F !!!
make sure to just test temperature and take it away, don't leave it even for 10 sec
yes, this is in the instructions, but who reads those instructions and specs ?

Operating Range 32 to 122°F (0 to 50°C)
Just letting you all know that this is the first version. The second one is much better but this is still really solid.

This is THE thermometer to get.
Don't even think about getting the cheapo Chinese Amazon ones - I've had those and they take up to 10 seconds to get an accurate reading, all while hot oil is splattering all over your hands.

This one is way quicker and more accurate. I would go so far as to trust only this brand for all my kitchen thermometer needs… I bought my thermopop for $40 years ago and never regretted it (upgraded to their pro model later)

Was literally looking to buy some more two days ago but had seen it was full price then. Glad I waited, thanks OP.

Thanks, this is good info. I've used this to check oil temp for deep frying at 350-400 range. But to your point, the plastic will melt if exposed to high temps. So don't use this as a leave-in probe in an oven or a grill.

Just bought a Meater+ for smoking. Is this a good option for direct heat cooking and spot checking?
