You might be able to fight legally on medical necessity. For example if you had a CPAP and the HOA tries to fine the generator "keeping you alive", that's a problem.

Mine is trash. NOT REFURBISHED, looks HEAVILY USED. Oil leaking in box and scratches and scuffs all over outside of generator with sun faded labels. Looks heavily used or left outside for a long period

Contacted the seller and they were very dismissive. Just said to issue eBay Return. The item weighs almost 100lbs in packaging. They want me to load into my car, drive to a UPS, unload from my car, take my hand truck to get into UPS store for what? A refund of what I paid?

They know 100% they never inspected the item, sent an item that did NOT match their description and was NOT refurbished but instead USED (and / or returned after used and never inspected). This seller should not be trusted and buy definitely at your own risk

I do not think all of the effort to return is anywhere worth us being EVEN. And the seller knows this too which is why they DARE you to do the return process

Very similar experience and the customer service response was very telling. Basically daring me to take the time, effort, and breaking my back to return it. For what? To get my original money back? Needs to be a penalty to fraudulent sellers like this. They know these aren't refurbs and they know they don't match their description

Stabil is a thing. And relatively cheap. also it's good for gens to run occasionally with a load rather than sitting for long periods.
So, I grabbed this deal and it is my first gas-powered appliance. Should I be adding Stabil to the gas beforehand so that any gas left in my generator will last longer? Or just when it is sitting for a while? Also, I need a gas can and there seem to be a few different styles. What's everyone's favorite? I'm thinking Jerry can.

If you're using ethanol gas, get the ethanol stabil. Otherwise get regular stabil. I always add it straight to my gas cans when I fill them. Any can that doesn't have the stupid safety nozzle is great...the safety nozzle cans will leak and make filling the gen a PITA.

Thanks OP! Killer deal on the 4K dual fuel/electric start inverter w/wheels included. Between this and my 2K inverter gen I'm covered now. I paid more for the 2K gen, granted that was new vs refurb but still crazy.

Generally just when sitting for a while.. but if this is your only use for gas, and you don't intend to immediately run the generator for 10+ hours, it sounds like it's likely to sit for a while so it might not be a bad idea to add it right away.

As for gas cans... jerry cans are heavy/unwieldy. I'd recommend something more like a no spill - they've got a nice no-hassle button/nozzle setup that works really well: https://www.homedepot.com/p/No-Sp.../206991993

Is the 4K a better deal for home backup even if you never plan to use propane?

Any thoughts on the T07571F @ $550?

I'm down for one. Well another one. I picked up the dual fuel one last time. It was really heavy with the electric start and all. I couldn't really load it into my truck without help.
Just buy chance, I ended up selling it last weekend and these go on sale.
Sure I try this one. I'm sure I can off this one if I don't like it either. I also have a nice Honda 2000 watt that I mainly use. I really need the smaller size generator, I believe they are 1200w ones. I'm after something ultra portable.
I forgot to mention, with the combined cash back site, and my PayPal cash back I'll get a totaled of 4% back. Bring me to just shy of $250 with the 2 year warranty including.
Hell this is almost cheap enough to give away as a really nice wedding gift, or house warming gift.
these also make awesome trades when you're bartering with people on Facebook marketplace.

$369 for remote start vs $257, you can buy 2 and connect them in parallel for $514, and that's $145 extra. 6400/5800 watts

I'm not sure why people think propane is going to be any easier to get in an extended outage / shortage situation, unless you already have a big tank to draw from.

According to their ratings, runtime on propane isn't all that great either, a typical 20lb propane cylinder would be gone in ~7 hours at full load, ~11 hours at 50% load.

Should be more than enough, although the old school fridge's surge might be a concern - hard to say. There's a good chance that even the smaller 1600/2000W unit could manage your situation, providing both fridges don't try to start at the exact same time.
Well, if all you have is a couple of 20lb tanks, that could be problematic, but to your point, if you have large tanks already, which many people do for heating their house or other purposes (e.g., I've got four 100lb tanks for my pool heater), then propane availability becomes much less of an issue. If propane isn't already a large capacity fuel source at your disposal and you are truly serious about being prepared for an extended outage, then go and buy extra tanks (20, 40, or 100 lbs) and keep them filled. Unlike gas, propane won't go bad.

Either way, you want to exercise your generator regularly. It's all about preparedness, not waiting until there's a need.

I'll sell you my Sportsman 800/1000W inverter generator, lol (kidding, but I probably will end up selling it on craigslist). I've got the other Firman (1600/2000W) on the way as an upgrade for it, but it definitely fits the "ultra portable" bill @ just ~20 pounds.

The description from the seller says "THE ONLY ACCESSORIES INCLUDED WITH THIS CERTIFIED REFURBISHED GENERATOR ARE THE OWNER'S MANUAL AND LPG HOSE WITH REGULATOR.". Does anybody have Amazon links on the missing accessories, like the oil, the funnel and the rest?

Yes this is what I had in mind, Honda also makes one as well. The sportsman one was nearly $200 or more wasn't it? Just didn't make sense at that price.

I only paid $150 for my Sportsman from Home Depot back in June 2020, Honda should be much more expensive, typically
