While I like Eufy products, I would rather go with something without wifi or bluetooth as those just add a easy vector of hacking to the product. I forgot the brand name of the finger print and keypad dead bolt lock I have (long early morning for me) but its a Chinese name brand and its been FP multiple times on the website between $35 and $60..

I really like the emergency power port on this Eufy though, something I wish the one I had would have..
Can you not setup/connect the wifi while installing and use it as a fingerprint/keypad lock?

I know the lock uses an app so I dont believe you can completely turn off wifi/bluetooth because than you would never be able to communicate with the lock unless you did a factory reset every time.

Thats why I prefer my non app controlled smart dumb lock, lol.

Yes Teeho thats the one, I got two of them very happy with both of them, works great, battery lasted me almost a whole year and through one Chicago winter which I found to be amazing. Only time I have ever had an issue with the finger print reader is when its raining outside and my fingers are wet, outside of that it works great and fast. I paid on the higher side of the spectrum before the major sales so I think it was $45 for one and $55 for the other. I posted the deal for one of those price points awhile back.

Lol if you worry about hacking you should probably barricade all your windows cuz they probably will kick your door in instead of going through the hassle of hacking 😂

Avoid Eufy connected products at all costs. They, without customers knowing, sent unencrypted video back to their servers in their security cameras. Any company doing such shady things is very likely not taking proper security precautions.

Not worried about hacking, but the wifi/bluetooth do provide a very easy avenue of approach for those that care which is why I mentioned it.

Please can someone link me to 1 example of a home burglar hacking into homes?

What kind of sophisticated home burglars are you guys living near??

So there are examples that I know of on the internet of burglars hacking through the garage door, but off the top of my head besides it being shown on how its done for electronic locks I dont know of any people that actually got robbed through the electronic lock as an avenue.

Also know that cars are being hacked through key fobs but does not mean I am actively worried about it.

Its just something to take note off, because looking at the videos of how easy it is to spoof the electronic locks it can happen. Yes unless you are someone worth targeting probably not a big concern to most people.

I have a eufy doorbell camera, and in general I like it, but there have been several occasions where we are sitting around at the house and the doorbell rings but nobody is there. I can't help but wonder if there's some vulnerability that has not been disclosed. I have tried escalating it to the tech support and I was stuck dealing with a bunch of idiots.. The doorbell hub would ring, but there was no video of anybody at the door. And we would be sitting a few feet away and answer it within a few seconds, but nobody was there. So either someone is ringing it remotely or is able to get up to the doorbell and ring it, and run away within a few seconds without detection, when we have it configured for Max sensitivity, so it frequently goes off from shadows of bushes moving... And it has happened multiple times. Neither scenario is comforting... I wanted eufy to review the logs to see what was going on but they had no idea what I was talking about. ugh...

the overall point of my post is if the doorbell malfunctions or has issues, can you really trust the lock?

I hate this thing. I replaced it with a Tuya, which probably should be crappier but works far better. Poor fingerprint recognition, errors about being jammed when it's not, difficult to wake keypad. Most annoying smart lock I've owned and I have 5 or so different ones.

I have this. All round. WiFi, fingerprint or key access... So far so good and happy with it. I only wish it would detect door is already locked manually so it doesn't try to lock .

This was fixed. Even though what you're saying is slightly stretched.

Is there a Tuya you recommend?
