Looks like this is the low end of the new qled lineup for TCL. Q6 has no local dimming, similar to Samsung Q60 series. You have to step up to the Q7 which is $699 for a 65-in to get local dimming. Even the Q7 series gets only a 7.2 for sports on rtings.com. This Q6 is a 60hz panel for anyone interested.

I can't find a review by rtings on this Q6 model, they may not have reviewed it yet. Here is the link I found https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews...q650g-qled

Q7 was reviewed but costs more and maybe worth it for some.

The Q6 is worse than the s555 I got earlier this year for a similar price. Q6 has no local dimming as was mentioned before.

The Q8 is really the successor to the 6 series.
QM8 > 6 series > Q70 > 5 series > Q60

the tv market seems to have stabilized, my hisense 75u6h has local dimming (only 48 zones but any>none) and is 699 almost all the time.

i actually adore it for the price. looks really great.

of course if these are brand new, they'll likely decrease in price over time. at which point getting qled and ~500 nits brightness for under 699 for the 75 would be a good deal really. but i'd spend a little more for local dimming.

thing is the q7 looks more like the u7h equivalent. so theres no direct u6h equivalent from last year, as this looks inferior. guess they streamlined their portfolio. however the q7 at 998 now, if that gets some nice discounts later will be good value. a lot just depends on future sale pricing here imo.

How is 65U6K vs 65U6H? The first one is $60 extra but seems newer.

Those have local dimming right? Sorry haven't been in the TV market in years

How does this compare to the 75" Hisense from Costco?

You can do much better for under $1k. Local dimming helps provide better picture quality and contrast.

No local dimming zones, seems like a huge let down, especially on a QLED.

I figured that the higher model number would be of better quality. Makes no sense if the TCL Q7 is indeed worser compared to the Q6 model!

Worser isn't a word. If you want to really stress how much worse something is, you can say, "even worse." Technically, "worse" is already its own comparative adjective.

What's the best value at 65 inches? Is it this? I was looking to get my father a tv before football season since his recently crapped out. He doesn't need all the bells and whistles, but I don't want to get him a piece of shit, either.

If it matters, he has a pretty narrow living room, watches mostly sports and movies, and is liable to watch day or night (so occasional sun glare).
The Q6 also qualifies for $100 NFL Sunday Ticket and the Q7, QM8, 98" qualify for $200 off.

https://www.tcl.com/us/en/nfl-sunday-ticket

I am going to get Sunday Ticket either way but not sure whether it's worth splurging a little more for the Q7 to get the $200 off instead 🤔

How does this compare to 5 series from last year. I am trying to get a 65" about $500 and that's what people recommend.

But 5 series is discontinued
This or the Hisense u6 would be the pick but need to see more from rtings to decide which is better. Usually they are neck and neck each year.

The TCL 5 series is better than this Q6 and also better than the Hisense U6H

The TCL s555 is getting harder and harder to find though. Its the last of TCL's Roku models.

Wow...my TV is like my phone now, I need to get rid of last years model and get the new one! So much for my childhood TV that lasted for 30 years.

Having said that- my TV could be a little 'smarter'.

Oh the Q6 doesn't have local dimming?? Hard pass.

Man and I would have recommended a s555 Roku set to people like my elderly parents who need simple. Shame.

Seems like the TVs listed in the OP are the lowest tier of TCL's lineup. I'll have to pass.

The 4 series is still the lowest tier of TCL's lineup. These Q series TV's are better than that.
