The extremely popular 10" DEWALT jobsite table saw is on sale for $474 shipped and sold by Amazon. This saw gets plenty of attention here at its recurring sale price of $550 but this is the best price in quite some time.

That's what I did. Sold the portable stand for I think 80-90ish to help offset the cost.

Yes on the dado. This is a great deal. The fence is great and it's plenty powerful for all the usecases a general woodworker has. I figure I'll keep mine for a few years and see if my skills have progressed enough to justify something like a SawStop.
I reno'ed 3 houses with just the miter saw. Most of the work was cutting trim or 2x4s which the miter saw does very well. The flip side is that a table saw can do everything a miter saw can do plus more (especially with jigs). It's just a bit larger and more expensive. If you do opt for the table saw route, be sure to invest in a good miter gauge (such as an Incra, Kreg or Rockler)- the one that comes with this one is sorta junk.
