I chose this instead of a bluetooth dongle for ease of use. I plugged it in, pressed a couple of buttons, it showed me the code. Took a picture of it with my phone. Then I cleared the code. Unplugged and done.
I could have spent that long fiddling with the bluetooth, and getting it connected.
No regrets, it did exactly what I needed.

The one you linked isn't compatible with iOS. This one seems useful to keep in the car for a quick check anytime if the check engine light comes on.

Edit: Someone pointed out Torque Lite cant be installed any more on devices that dont already have them installed. I'm not sure what other "free" android apps are out there that arent plagued with ads. For laptops, there's a bunch of free open source software available.
