It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990
Model S Plaid $89,990

Sure, I guess some folks spend all their money on vehicles. In which case this is an extra important deal for them.
And others here enjoy the luxury of $4 per gallon of gas.

LFP is cheaper and heavier per kwh. It is a type of lithium ion battery.

the lithium ion in model s and model x and some model 3/Y is NCA, its more expensive, but more energy dense
lithium ion has many advantages over LFP, but what LFP really shines is a much more durable cell structure and much safer. punching it won't result in fire for example. that alone would make some people decide go to with LFP.

lithium-iron-phosphate recharge cycle is also at least 10X stronger than lithium nickel cobalt.

another issue with LFP battery is that the discharge voltage of LFP isn't as linear as lithium nickel cobalt. it is nearly flat for the majority of the discharge cycle. so the battery management system wouldn't know the stage of charge by reading voltages alone. for LFP battery, you need to top it to 100% once a while to re calibrate the BMS

Are they trying to clear out inventory in preparation for a refresh release like the M3?
Model X is so that it qualifies for federal tax credit threshold of 79,999

Model S is most likely they have too many units in warehouses and they want to clear up some inventory in general, profit margin is still very high for them

i rarely charge mine to 100%, my range is pretty spot on still

this guy did a breakdown, like you said its really only necessary if you want it to have 100% accurate range estimation but its not like the battery is actually losing range.

The one Tesla that qualify for section 179. Deal if its last year with 100% dep. This year 27k max
Actually, there used to be 100% Bonus Depreciation. But now (2023) there's 80% Bonus Depreciation. Still good, and potentially a lot better than just a $27K max!

I was considering this but friend suggested to check Lucid. Test drove Pure and Touring last week. Its like comparing Toyota (Tesla) and Lexus (Lucid). Lucid had an actual luxury feel and lease is much cheaper than tesla. Anyone has any pro/cons of real life experience? I don't care about self(ish) driving.

Do we have to have $27K income from that business? If it is less, say $15K, can we get the 27K deduction and the gap as a loss?
After Bonus Depreciation, it actually could be a lot bigger loss than just $27K. It could be 80% of the total cost of the Model X. At some point your CPA may want to spread the depreciation/deduction over a few years...

Once the upgraded interiors for the 3 and Y eventually come out, I see less and people getting the S and X.
