It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990

I was considering this but friend suggested to check Lucid. Test drove Pure and Touring last week. Its like comparing Toyota (Tesla) and Lexus (Lucid). Lucid had an actual luxury feel and lease is much cheaper than tesla. Anyone has any pro/cons of real life experience? I don't care about self(ish) driving.
Charging network right now is the bigger deal until others can use Tesla's charging network. So many stories people getting to charging stations with little power to find there are no functional chargers and had to get towed

After Bonus Depreciation, it actually could be a lot bigger loss than just $27K. It could be 80% of the total cost of the Model X. At some point your CPA may want to spread the depreciation/deduction over a few years...

Honestly the best Section 179 vehicle is a USED G-Wagon. Buy one that's about 4 years old. Initial new car depreciation is over, and the values stay flat afterward. Keep it for about 3-5 years and you'll be able to sell it for about the same price you paid for it. All the while claiming 80% deduction. yummy
So what your saying is you will recognize a gain when you sell it in 3-5 years. Find it hard to believe a 4 year old goes for the same price as 8 year old but what do I know. I do not monitor the G-Wagon market.

The battery technology and battery management in the Tesla is not the same as in your phone. Real-world data shows that Tesla battery degradation was less than 10% after over 160,000 miles.
I have a 2016 MS 70D, it has about 78k miles on it, new, it charged to 239 miles, this morning we charged fully for long trip, 218 miles. Not bad for 7 year old car.

I never understand why these Tesla posts get made...this isn't SlickDeals worthy...it's a permanent price adjustment, big whoop. Are we going to start listing all other car manufacturers every time they do this as well?

And when the traffic light turns green.
The 0-60? Mostly when joining a highway or red light…but it's just fun driving with that acceleration all the time!

I have a question. What happens 3 or 4 years down the line when the battery health is down like the phones we use. Do you pay to get the batteries replaced or is there some kind of coverage? Been wanting to get an EV but holding myself back thinking what happens next.
You just live with it like you do with your phone, or go back to your gasoline phone.

I bought a 2011 G55 AMG for $70K. Had it registered in Montana to avoid sales tax and registration. Drove it for 3 years and sold it for $69K. So I was effectively paid about $10K to drive around a G-wagon for 3 years. LMAO

I'm doing the same thing now with a 2016 BMW X5M... Cool
Tax evasion cool suggestion.

people on slickdeals buy cars

the model 3 and model y threads are invaluable. I learned that the cvrp+fed tax rebate can be claimed for last year, and not this year because some random person mentioned it. Navigating any type of fed rebate is a nightmare.

This is less attractive because its not as good of a value, but there might be a subset of people in the market for a big family car and the model X can fulfill that and also qualify for the fed tax rebate

Lot of hate and useless info in these comments but the X is a good deal for someone that can utilize section 179/bonus depreciation. Can write off 80% of the value as a tax deduction. Same goes with G wagons/surbabans/trucks and surprisingly the Porsche Taycan.

Sorry, I thought it flattened out after 4 years. It actually flattens out after 7.

Curious if any recent new Tesla model owners have information on quality control. With all the past reports of quality issues that are misrepresented, and my own person experiencing riding in a newer model 3 for lyft and asking the driver on quality, wonder if anything changed?

For those interested, Lyft driver gave conflicting information - love the car, had to replace the battery, and had to get various repairs on his car 'many' times (his word). Which it contradicts his comment of minimal issues from an earlier point in our chitchat.
I bought the first MY in Aug. 2022 and loved a lot, so I purchased another one in March 2023.
The first one is around 12,000 miles on it and I do not have any issue at all. It has two minor cosmetics problems but they came to my home to repair them in less than an hour. For 2023 MY, so far No problem at all. My friends bought MY in 2022, 2023 also, they have a few minor issues and resolved them at home repair too. Also my cousin who lives in Las Vegas and Uber Driving for a living who has Model 3 for 5 years and NO problem at all.
I still have Toyota Rav 4 Limited Edition and Acura RDX Advnace for over 6 years and they have more problems than MY so far.

Bought in August 2022. It hurts. Makes me sick to my stomach.
Man that sucks. Well I hope that you had 50K worth of fun over the last year. Smilie

Rivian as a company still loses money on every rivian they make

imagine buying a car that has no profit margin

Its going to be like owning a saab, what a joy to get repairs done 5 years down the road theres no parts available.
I dont DGF if a company looses money. They are well-backed by Amazon and will be just fine. I can care less how a company's stock is doing. If a company cuts cuts cuts (like Tesla does), the stock goes up, the quality of the product goes down (as Teslas do).
