It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990

Next time, before you be a jerk, can you answer the question? The question is still valid. What happens when you need a battery replacement or after 120000 miles.. guess what.. quality is been an issue in Tesla.
It wasn't said to be a jerk, the general consumer is completely uneducated about EV's. Case in point, this person was asking about battery changes at 4-5yrs on a vehicle that had an 8 yr warranty.

What happens after 50,000 miles if your ICE engine acts up? Call up your dealer and inquire. I can tell you the engines for my cars are $5000+ even used, or $15k from BMW (if you can find them). Battery prices continue to plummet as production numbers increase. I believe the battery replacement price is around $7k at this point.

See how the stock reacted after this came out. They will sell more vehicles but their margin will take a hit and the buyers must be hoping there won't be any more price cuts. There were just 6 this year on model x alone..

No one cares who is losing money. Tesla lost a shitload in their early life. Same will happen to other auto makers. They will find investors even if they aren't profitable now.

I own the stock and trade it. Let's see if truck can do its magic after 5 years
If there's a recession, tesla can make some of the other companies go out of business. They have pricing power for that. They're the only company that can survive a price war. That's why they started it

Again. It's not one company. It's a slew of them. Tesla isn't the best. I can name 10 things about Tesla that makes it a terrible choice..
Again, do you even look at earnings reports of the very legacy auto companies you're talking about? They are NOT producing EV's at profit or high volume, their deliveries are abismal. The irony is that the fan base for companies like Ford/GM/Stellantis is the very thing that makes EV transition a nightmare for them and likely will be their undoing. The only competition Tesla has, if any, is out of China.

I do…. I don't buy anything without checking the price or deal at Slickdeals.
I am not buying a Tesla anytime soon. I am happy with my GL450, which I paid cash 7 years ago
Off topic:

If you don't need the 3rd row often, try the new GLE450. It was a big upgrade from our GL450. Much better handling, better gas mileage, modern dashboard and interface, even a mild hybrid. Still has a 3rd row for the few times that we need it.

No one is a "fanboi" because they want a 9 second factory sedan. $120k is an incredible bargain for that level of performance regardless of how it's powered. He used that term to be a douche.

Tesla is going for the jugular of every manufacture in their space. The "competition" is not selling at scale, and what they do sell is generally at a loss. Industry leading margins were Tesla's strongest asset and their ability to reduce prices while still profiting is what makes it impossible for the competition. Compare these vehicles at this price to any other manufacturer's EVs and it's undeniable the value proposition of Tesla's vehicles.
I was acknowledging that "fanboi" wasn't a good term by saying terminology could have been better. I didn't use the term just referencing another poster.

Our two post aren't even on the same topic.

Mine is "why did price decrease so much"
Yours is "tesla are worth it"

Not the same train of though

You laugh but he is correct. The model S Plaid is one of the fastest production cars made so far. Can you name another sedan under $100K that do 0-60 in 2 seconds?
Closest ICE car I can even think is 2023 Porsche Taycan Turbo S
2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S
Price: $187,400
0- 60: 2.6 seconds

Edit: Taycan appears to be electric also.

I have Model 3 Performance and can tell you for sure the instant power is hard to beat. Its a huge achievement of automotive engineering for sure.

Went to test drive Tesla S yesterday and I'm surprised how small it was and all the plastic… the seats are also not a genuine leather. Went back and ordered Lucid Touring. Finally moved to EV. Regardless of what anyone chooses, this is the right direction.

And they all drive in the left lane regardless of how many cars are behind them trying to get around.

Sales must be so bad that they have to keep cutting prices to achieve any growth. Still this is not any where close average consumer can afford. Why post this shlt here? This is not slickdeal lol

I have a love/hate relationship with Tesla. For the most part, I love my 2018 M3LR. It got me into the carpool lane for my 90 mile daily commute, saves on gas and maintenance e.g. Then again, since covid I've been working from home and hardly use it since.

But still, the few times I went to the service center, it has not been a great experience. The customer service and the workmanship at the SC is not existent and sloppy at best. And you can't talk to anyone unless you show up in person. You can chat with someone on the app but that won't be someone you'll deal with in that SC. Tesla's lack of quality control and consistency in policy is definitely a deficit that other EV competitors could so easily overcome. Loose panels, un-tucked door seals, dangling wiring; it's in the details. And this is coming from someone who really don't mind the panel gaps or bad paint.

The company also seems to be unrestrained when it comes to promises and usually overstates facts. I'm glad I didn't purchase the FSD vaporware when I bought my car but I can't even try it today because my v2.5 computer is not capable of running FSD. Something they said all Teslas would be able to and has refused to upgrade mine for free even though there has been cases of other EAP owners having theirs replaced and a court case that says so. (I did a DIY replacement of the charger computer myself to be CCS capable and that's ok since Tesla never said it had that capability when I bought my car)

While I have been recommending Teslas seemingly forever, now I would never do that to (a) a non-techie person or (b) someone with an eye for quality and (c) someone who values customer service. Someone who is used to Lexus, Mercedes, Bimmer e.g. type of customer service would be dreading a need (though much less frequent) to visit a Tesla service center.

So I'm super conflicted now as I have been eyeing a Model S LR for some time now and this price drop makes it way more enticing. I love Tesla's EAP, range, prices and when I travel, its supercharger network. But these price fluctuations are troubling and a good deal could be a bad deal in a week or month.

where did you find 7k? in your imaginations?
Tesla price is around 20k out of warranty and owners ended up paying this for Model S,
check Tesla owner forums, there are 3rd party repair available, but I don't know their prices
