It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990
Model S Plaid $89,990

I also drive in the left lane. I try my best to avoid as many idiots on the road as possible. Everyone zig zagging through traffic to get to the front of the crowd. Then they slow down once they get to the front, until someone is coming up on them. Then it's off to the races between idiots again. I just get into the left lane and try to avoid all that crap.
My favorite is when someone rides my butt and I finally get over and then they go the same speed. They just wanted to be at the front.

Youre missing the desirability of those cars vs plaid. As an analogy- let's compare a fine/rare mechanical watch vs a smartwatch.

The smartwatch has way more features but is simplistic in nature.. it's a high volume produced circuit board and OLED screen, a couple sensors and thats it. Becomes outdated quickly, disposable once the latest chip/revision released. Doesnt hold any value really long term.

The mechanical watch has a lot more moving parts, but its desired because of craftsmanship, looks, noise (if you listen closesly), rarity..there is something to be appreciated with the inner workings of it. Can it do more than just tell time? Hell no but you wont be seeing a smartwatch sell/bought for 6 figures by a collector as some mechanical watches do.

Same goes for GT-Rs, Hellcats, Vipers, Lambos, Bugattis, you name it. Fast isnt everything.
and youre missing what a price floor is

Good Hellcats/GT-R go for well above $60k. Bad hellcats go for cheaper, but the problem is the hellcat is a $20,000 dodge at the end of the day and its a fairly miserable car to have as your daily driver.

a 12 year old nissan gt-r costs more than $60k and you have a ton of engine maintenance and possibly transmission repairs to do if you actually launch the thing

its an expensive endeavor to own one

meanwhile a manager at mcdonalds living with 2 roommates is going to be able to scrape together a down payment and buy a 1000hp plaid. easily.

Exactly! That's all it is. Wanting to be in front. I now understand and see the true meaning of the rat race I heard so much about as a child. Just want to be in front of the other guy,
then they slow down. Until they see someone about to pass, then IT'S A RACE!

Can you make payments while your car is being built so you aren't hit with a lump sum?

I don't have the enhanced autopilot or performance. but I'm thinking, I would still get the $7500 credit wouldn't I? I may be looking at the model X if I would be close to $42K ish. Do they quote you on the website for trade in's ?
The $7500 credit really just depends on your tax liability and your income so that just depends if you owe enough taxes in 2023 and if you are below the income thresholds in 2022 and/or 2023.

I got my trade-in quote directly from Tesla and they're the ones who quoted me about $45k for my 2023 MYP with 6k miles.

Same, got a trade-in quote for a 2022 MYP with 21k miles for $38k, ordered in 12/21 and delivered 2/22. Lost a ton of equity due to the price decreases. Otherwise would consider trading in for the X as well primarily due to better suspension and the ability to add 1-2 seats as somebody else referred to to keep the X under the $80k tax credit.

Like you, enjoy the car a lot so will ride it out and hope for the best.
Yeah the main reasons I would want the model X are the suspension and the rear passenger doors would make it a lot easier to load/unload young kids. From my understanding, it's not possible to change the seat configuration form 5 seater to 6 seater after purchasing? Is that true? If the 6 seater qualified for the tax credit now, that would be a lot more tempting.

Just to put the self referral ideas to bed, from Tesla website:

You can earn referral credits by having friends or family use your referral link when they order their first Tesla product or take their first referred demo drive. You will not receive referral credits for referring existing Tesla customers for purchases or demo drives.

If an existing customer attempts to order through a referral link (whether their own or a friend's), they will not qualify for the referral benefits for buyers, nor will the referrer qualify for referral credits, because the buyer is already part of the Tesla community. Instead, the customer automatically earns loyalty benefits associated with the purchased product.

So if you already own a tesla you'll get $500 off for a 3 or Y and $1000 off for an S or X as is shown in the loot box on the tesla app.

No idea if this works about adding seats to the 5-seater after but works with tax credit if it does. Saw this post earlier: https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=165598921&postcount=370

Warning to all customer service is amazingly awful. It seems ok once you own the car but before not so much.

Why would you want to do that? Set aside whatever money you want and accrue interest

OK, I thought it was like lease where the company gets the credits and there's no income limit on the companies. Guess they're not consistent with how they're doing the credits for companies between leases vs buying.

Left lane is passing lane. Stop cruising in it.

Yes, I tried to be brief but I wasn't clear. I already own the 2023 Model Y. I'm assuming if I traded in for model X, I would still get the $7500 credit for the model Y, as well as the $7500 for the model X for 2023? both would be purchased in 2023.
