It never crossed your mind that other people were joining the access fund to get affiliate status and 10% off, plus CCAP was passing the $7.5K credit on a lease and they were able to "lease" the Jeep for 3-6 months, then sell it to a dealer for MSRP and make about $10-15K for driving a Jeep for a few months?
Now you are stuck with a $650 a month payment on a $38K car.
At the link you provided there's multiple 5-seat 2020s for 63k- a 15k discount to new.
The only one that is 70k is a 7-seater with the black/white interior.... which is 85.5k new as both the seating and interior colors are paid options. So again about a 15k discount to new.
I agree the tax credit would offset some of that 15k difference (though not the full $7500 of it- since your sales tax would be higher and does not consider the credit).
But it's definitely NOT cheaper to get like for like new vs used.

I already explained why I needed to get it. I totaled my vehicle and needed a car ASA, specifically a PHEV since I knew I was going to be moving and needed to move cross country in a couple of months.. There were very few limited options then for PHEV and I didn't like the Model 3/Model Y. Toyota Rav4 Prime was still difficult to come by and there were no discounts. BMW x5 PHEV no longer had $7500 tax credit, and neither did most other companies for PHEV for tax credit besides Jeep.
I already made money off my Mach E from the insurance payout. I couldn't possibly sell the 4xe back since I needed a car at the time in Jan 2023 since I had no extra car and wouldn't be coming into huge money until September since I signed my new job contract then after graduating. You were just assuming the whole time, and you were wrong. $650 a month for 24 months/15k miles only amounted to $16k total for a $65k car new which is pretty good IMO for a lease for me at the time. I had never driven a jeep, and I knew I wasn't going to own the vehicle since I was unsure of its reliability ratings. I'm not a fan of the Jeep 4xe since it has jerky powertrain, and would be okay with getting rid of it early if I could, but If I take a hit on it, I don't mind keeping it since it still is a nice PHEV and way more fuel efficient vehicle than my other 2022 Acura MDX (which I own.)
In fact, what you were saying is wrong, as it was IMPOSSIBLE to sell it back to the dealer for MSRP, since there were plenty of 4xe's on the lots at the time. That thought never crossed my mind because it was an absurd thought. There wasn't a shortage and that's why the lease deals were cheap for the 4xe. I wasn't an affiliate status but I got 8.5% off instead.
Now if I were leasing this back last year in June 2022, then yes, your idea would've crossed my mind, but at least for this year, definitely wouldn't have done it that way. There is a reason why leasing was so cheap when I got it.
Try to get a 4xe now brand new for $38k. You'll know it's impossible, so again, please stop twisting words around. You're not sounding intelligent. Also, it's not about the monthly payment for me, but the total cost for my lease.
Either way, I just placed an order for the Model X in Ultra Red. Super excited.

Well if you think $16K to drive around in a Jeep for 2 years is a good deal, maybe you are on the wrong forum.
Maybe you should have read more on leasehackr and you would have known about the affiliate, or maybe you should have just paid a broker $500 and let them do the leg work. You would have saved a few thousand, or made a few thousand

Data Point:
2022 Rubicon 4xe HV MSRP: $64,420 (cold, safety, HT)
Sold to local CDJR for $64,420
Good luck with your financial endeavors, obviously you are young, just graduated and now you are buying an $80K car. Brilliant.

Your whole point is moot as I needed the car regardless. I couldn't sell it even at three months in. Now I can afford another car so I'm good.
Plus, you really think I didn't ask for a broker on leasehackr? I did and was able to find a better deal on my own. Again, don't need to twist words around like you usually do.
Also, your data points are from last year/2 years ago AND the wrong vehicle- mine is a GC 4xe, NOT a wrangler 4xe, which is a totally different model catered to specific different diehard groups who sometimes will be willing to pay outrageous amounts for them. Also, you were fetching data during the pandemic time where PHEV/EV demand were at an all time high and gas prices being outrageous. Again, I got my car this year, and knew of the depreciation coming on and demand falling due to increasing interest rates/stabilizing gas prices.
Plus I'm not as young as you think (I've been with slickdeals at least since 2005, which is way older than your account.) My income now jumped almost 5 times my previous one since I graduated. What's neat is that for this year, I'm just at the max to qualify for federal tax credit. Next year I won't qualify so that's why I have to get an EV now for the tax credit purpose. There's a purpose in what I do. Don't need to tell me what I could've or should've done with my own money. Everyone's situation is different and there was nothing else I could've done differently at the time. You're no better than the guy who puts others down who bought a model x before price drop.

Also, your data points are from last year. Not this year. I knew it was going to happen but went along with it because I needed a car for at least 6-7 months since I started leasing it.

Okay the original price was over 100k.
