Meh. Example set of tires I was looking at last week were $199/each. Now they are $236/each with $110 off. So, more expensive with the "deal".
I've been researching tires for the last month or so and while I can't speak specifically about the tires you purchased, from what I have been reading is that different tires do differently when it comes to dry roads, wet roads, and snow/ice.

You really have to be conscious about the type of conditions you're normally driving in.

What my research has shown is that most name brand tires still vary, but they don't perform horrible in any one category. Whereas the the budgets may and often do.

I urge you to do a bit more research just to make sure those tires perform well in the elements you drive in.

Check out consumer reports, Tyre reviews.com (European, but really great information) and just watch some reviews on Google. Get some more data points.

I was horrified to learn that some tires work great on dry, but are just outright terrible on wet roads. This could very well put you and your passengers at risk.

I would consider myself very frugal, and I would agree there are a lot of premium tires out there that are very much hype or provide very marginal differences. But just be careful. These tires are your only connection between the vehicle and the road. Just want you to be safe and save money Smilie
In 2021 I bought a set of Pirelli P Zero for $102 each and got the $70 rebate. Now they're $220 each. OUCH!!

Yep.

Bought better tires at Costco and saved $200 vs the cheap tires Discount Tire wanted me to buy at a higher end price point. The insurance they sell is a fraud by the way. They get out of changing your tire and blame your car for tire wear. Happened to me.

I don't know what insurance you referred to , I guess it is "tire road hazard warranty" that is not an insurance

That's a shame. I bought bridgestone quiettrack with zero issues. Probably the best tires I've ever bought. I would talk to the manager of the store. Tire department is very bipolar when it comes to doing anything

That looks like a good deal. I'm in the same situation and trying to decide on those or going through Discount Tire's website in hopes of getting Free repair and rotation for the life of the tire.
I'm assuming the deal you posted does NOT include free rotation?

It doesn't but If that's worth the extra $400 to you then go for it !

Still overpriced. With those brands you're essentially paying for a bunch of marketing and brand recognition efforts
True that!

I never had good luck with michelin. Out of round issues several years ago. I think they are way over-priced as well. BF Goodrich used to be excellent tire and good price. Prices doubled after Michelin bought it.

Lol. Those are the bottom of the barrel of brands out there

Goodyear is bottom of the barrel? I swear some people on here love to waste money. Whatever makes you sleep at night, I guess.

I got 4 Michelin Defender 2s for $731 out the door from DT yesterday.

I had ordered Yokohama's online but they hadn't been delivered by appointment time so they substituted the Michelins for no extra charge. Saved about $250..... in theory.

Anyone have an opinion or experience with Michelin Defender 2s? I guess their main claim to fame is long tread life with 80,000 mile warranty. I hope to get 50,000 miles out of them.

Goodyear makes both good and bad tires. Especially should stay away from the Walmart exclusive Goodyear tires like the Reliants. Kumho also has a Walmart exclusive tire that is junk, but their other tires are ok for a midrange tire.

As other posted mentioned I bought the Pirelli Scorpion AS3s 117H 275/55/20…instant rebate applied twice and the $80 rebate from Pirelli. With the 4 certificates around $800 installed seems decent enough….
Missed the manufacturer rebate in the total

I'd have to agree now.. Going with either BFG KO2s or Falken Wildpeak A/T3Ws

And, never again at Costco!! Discount Tire from now on..

I've chosen these defender 2 for may accord. I live in south, snow is not a problem.

Otherwsie I would chose cross climate 2.

That's a good ideal. I've got around 800
