I'm sure whatever happened to your set never ever happened to a Sony or Samsung

I sarcastically said that what happened to you never happened to a Sony ever, as in 100% of the Sony TV ever made. I said that because it would be ridiculous to say that.
Again, I bought a lot of TVs in my life, to a point where ppl say I have a problem. I buy new and refurbished. With the exception of a DOA insignia, all my TVs are still alive, even the old 720p TV. all different brands, all alive. most of them are TCL.
you just have bad luck, and let's just call it that. and I have good luck.
for you to crap in an entire brand because of your one person experience is ridiculous.

That's awesome! I've also dabbled in more than a handful of tv's from sony, samsung, vizio, philips, panasonic, lg, and never had a single problem with any of them. and I'm not crapping on an entire brand with just my experience alone, of course this is anecdotal but there seems to be more people with bad experiences with chinese brands than other established manufacturers. just searching 'tcl hdmi problem' on other forums shows I'm not the only person that have experienced this. Not to mention this tv has a terrible dirty screen effect.
You keep enjoying your tcl, I'll spend my money elsewhere.
Not only this but the fast forward while watching Youtube videos would rarely speed through as it was supposed to and would lag. It was very annoying.
So, my Hisense 55" lasted less than 2 years, the TCL just over 1 year and we'll see how long my 50" Onn bedroom TV will (its 5 months old).
