The first set had some white powder, mold or something on them and it wouldn't wipe off. I'm not sure what it was or how they could even ship something that looked that bad. On a pair of 45s that I just received one of the metal grips was gashed in and had several sharp edges to it. So I've had two returns in dumbbells ranging from 5-60lbs. I really haven't had any that smelled really strong.

It's continuously been this price throughout the year on and off. You could wait for a bit lower, but $1 per pound is a solid deal, and these are solid dumbbells

I have these up to and including the 60's from a previous SD. All arrived in perfect shape, even though some of the boxes were pretty beat up, with the exception of one 45 had damage a gash to the rubber but I couldn't return it because they were out of stock at the time.

I wiped them off with distilled vinegar and let them sit outside in the sun for a few days to help with the smell. The 50's and 60's are a little large for my dumbbell rack because of the hex coating but can just fit carefully, so think about where you will keep these when not in use.

The 5's - 45's fit perfectly in my hands for an array of exercises but I do get some wrist tenderness from the grip of the heavier weights because of the convex shape, so if you have smaller hands this might be an issue.

I actually prefer the solid metal ones because the magnet platemate weights will stick to them. That way I only need every other dumbbell size and can cover all the weights in between in 2.5 lb increments.

Do u even lift tho? Time changing out plates as opposed to just grabbing them off the rack is costing u gains.

Do you even lift? They're talking about magnetic weights that you just slap on the end of metal dumbbells to make up 5 lb increments. I get it, you're joking, but it falls flat because there is no "time changing out plates."

These are good. I did end up with two 15s with slightly different diameter handles. It's not a big deal, although I wish I noticed it before purchase (I bought in store).

Like anything mass produced in China, these are probably coming from different factories so you may get some that smell, or bad handles, or whatever. None of mine have smelled fwiw.

I searched marketplace before coming across this deal. You can find a set here and there for less but most are sub 20lbs and never what I'm looking for.
