The only thing this unit is missing is it appears not to be supported by municipalities that offer a low night time charging rate that is billed by the charger. WIFI connection directly from the charger to the utility servers to monitor usage.

Our municipality is using chargepoint and Juicebox. These two are fully UL Listed and I think that's the reason. Autel is UL Rated, but rated is not the same as UL listed.

Cable really stiff in <20F temps, but no overheats with garage temperatures over 110F easily this summer.

It's a heavy duty unit. Wifi and bluetooth work well, and you can actually hardwire ethernet on this one I believe if you don't have Wifi.

I don't have two units to test this, but I have researched this model more than many youtubers out there that do charging reviews. Yes it appears that two chargers can share one circuit based on load balancing. This load balancing is based on internet control to the two units, not control wiring between the two units. It's app driven through Wifi.

With data driven features and a dedicated app this is more powerful than the current Wall Connector in my opinion.

Maybe not as inexpensive, but you can piece together your own EVSE (colloquially called "EV Charger") using an open platform, which I find pretty slick!

Hmmm -15, I doubted I would be in the garage or anywhere else at that temp.

That doesn't say much as you don't list your actual coverage. Like what are coverage limits... state minimums or higher, rental coverage, medical payments, annual mileage. It all ads up and make a big difference.
My Tesla was actually the same price to insure as my old Nissan Altima. Same coverage. 100/1000 deductible. Rental coverage. Etc. Ends up $750/yr with policy discounts. Insurance was a non-factor other than making sure you price around as some companies view it more as a sports car and price it high. Others recognize all the safety feature and discount it. "Full coverage" doesn't tell the full story. The amount of coverage limits and annual mileage determines more of the cost than just deductible. Like ive heard people say their insurance is so cheap and no one else they know has low annual premiums. Only to find out they only have basic minimums like 25k per person 50k per accident 25k property damage. Now jump that to 500k each or 1M and it's a big price jump.
I have 100k/300K $500 deductible coverage from geico for $1300 a year includes additional auto warranty to 7 years 100k miles in tri state area in east coast. Plus I have umbrella insurance for another $3 million for $480 a year on top. Should cover 99.99 percent of all accidents.

Wow you run a 100ft 10awg extension cord without issues? I've ran a 25ft 14awg for 10A and it's over heated my plug on the extension end before. I've never gone past 50ft on a 12awg. What's the voltage drop on that 100ft? I'm assuming no issues charging your vehicle?
Yeah, that sounds like a fire waiting to happen. I run a 25ft 12/3 extension cord hooked up to a standard outlet and things get hot! The plug is clear and the insides look kind of fried. So yeah, I'm looking to upgrade to a 240v.

Can you explain more or provide a link to an option you're referring to? I've researched EV chargers for years and I've never seen a 240v direct to vehicle cable option on vehicles. Am I misunderstanding?
I have an i4. It came with a BMW charging cable. Basically a cable with a box and two charging attachments. (110v and NEMA 240v). Trickle charge on 110v is slow (like dead slow). Installed a 240v point and charges at around 40amps. (Installed a 50 amp circuit). I keep on looking at these wall boxes and really want to buy one but the only reason is that it looks cool lol. Sanity prevails and I realize I don't need it and am not going to get much benefit from it and am just going to be burning money for nothing. I already can schedule charging from the car which turns on and off based on times etc.

Now someone mentioned it connecting to the local utility provider but I've not seen it and don't know how that works. If anyone in Illinois using comed has any information that would be great.

Not true. The Rivian portable charger only charges at 7.6 kW on 240v. The Rivian wall charger charges at 11.5 kW.
Eesh…. That's Like a trickle charge compared to my 19.2kw for my Lightning. 😉

FYI - you can call up your local Costco & give them the item number. They'll check their inventory & give you a price too.

I have the 50 amp connected to the old dryer 30 amp breaker and it was great. There is a dial inside the unit that you can just rotate to specific amps that you need. The app works great and is updated very often the same as the firmware for the charger. The deal is great, I got my 50 amp until for like $450 on a lightdeal through Amazon. If you live in NJ you can get $250 back which makes this even a better deal.
How do I get the $250 back?

Minnesota garages easily get colder.

True. Those in a very cold climate may very well not want this particular one.

I didn't want to make it too pedantic. But the other coverages are the typical state minimums for a liened car in NY. 100/300, rental, full glass, mechanical breakdown. I could increase liability for a very small amount (actuarially speaking, the odds of someone having serious injury are lower than non serious injury, after all). that's why umbrella coverage is proportionally cheaper than the collision coverage in a car.

Apples to apples comparison was my goal

The stupid thing is, this "open" platform is much more expensive. That's the opposite of what reality should be.

I bought one of these for the same price from Amazon a couple of months ago and it's been great so far. If you want a wall mounted charger with an app and wifi and stuff I don't think you can do better at this price range.

Edit: never mind, I got the 32A version for this price. This is a great deal for the 40A one.
