The only thing this unit is missing is it appears not to be supported by municipalities that offer a low night time charging rate that is billed by the charger. WIFI connection directly from the charger to the utility servers to monitor usage.

Our municipality is using chargepoint and Juicebox. These two are fully UL Listed and I think that's the reason. Autel is UL Rated, but rated is not the same as UL listed.

Cable really stiff in <20F temps, but no overheats with garage temperatures over 110F easily this summer.

It's a heavy duty unit. Wifi and bluetooth work well, and you can actually hardwire ethernet on this one I believe if you don't have Wifi.

I don't have two units to test this, but I have researched this model more than many youtubers out there that do charging reviews. Yes it appears that two chargers can share one circuit based on load balancing. This load balancing is based on internet control to the two units, not control wiring between the two units. It's app driven through Wifi.

With data driven features and a dedicated app this is more powerful than the current Wall Connector in my opinion.

Maybe not as inexpensive, but you can piece together your own EVSE (colloquially called "EV Charger") using an open platform, which I find pretty slick!
Hmmm -15, I doubted I would be in the garage or anywhere else at that temp.

EVs aren't for everyone, but being able to leave every morning (if you leave the house) with a "full tank" is great. It's so much more convenient than having to stop for gas. Granted, long distances can be a PITA and you need to plan ahead based on charger locations, but for 99% of daily driving they're great. Especially anything with >200 mile range.
True that. Most families have 2 cars in the house. Keeping one gas car for long distance trips and one EV for in town and short trips is ideal.

I know one early EV adopter who switched to two EVs way back in 2012, when the 1st gen Nissan Leaf was in production. He and his wife both drove the Leafs. To my query on how he would do vacation trips, his response was "rent a car, dummy".

Is there an easy way to find out if Costcos nearby carry this?
call up your local costco. If they don't have in stock, they will be able to look it up in nearby costcos.

Thank you for this information. I wish I had known this option before I bought mine a few months ago.

The adapter is provided by Tesla with all new cars. You can also buy them from the Tesla store https://shop.tesla.com/product/sa...ng-adapter
Yes, I have one. I'd prefer it being correct fit without adapter. Thanks for the answer.

Just wanted to remind people that the Emporia Energy EVSE has been priced at $399 almost constantly for the last six months, either through Amazon or directly on their site.

They have a decent app for monitoring energy usage, the EVSE is UL Listed, and supports 48a / 11.5kWh charging rate. For the extra $100, it may be worth it for the faster charging rate.
If you hardwire the Autel it supports up to 50A charging. The 40A limit is just a result of the 14-50 connector.

Is it possible to extend wire for another 5 feet with some type of extension or connector?

On the website, there is this wallbox charger
https://www.costco.com/wallbox-pu...81778.html

But it's $499. Is this cheaper in store or is it a different model?
The OP is for an Autotel EVSE. The link you posted I found in the store, took to a register and it rang up as $499 plus tax....no joy on finding the Autotel EVSE in Gilbert, AZ

If you prefer a good fit without adapter, then the tesla wall charger or mobile connector are your only choices.

I have been using the adapter as I have a charger with J1772 connector. I just permanently leave the adapter on it. It works very well.

Not at Costco's in Northridge, Pacoima or Burbank California. The Burbank store entered the name in the system and couldn't find it.

I'm guessing you won't find it anywhere in SoCal, probably cause not enough EV around for the stores to carry it. Wink

Is this better than Tesla mobile charging cable? The mobile cable is only $230.

Here's a review. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rGGCYYBkMU

When testing at -15F it's the least manageable cable he's tested. Very inflexible.
I was going to post this same review from the State Of Charge YouTube channel and there's more to it than just the -15°F cold test. Based on my research in preparation for my (non-Tesla) EV purchase, I'll be purchasing the Emporia 48 Amp charger for $399 from Amazon.

If your EV is a Tesla, then with the Tesla Super Charger network, your Tesla is the long distance vacation trip car.

I have thee gas cars, and one Tesla in my home. And the Tesla is the go-to car for long trips. Super Charger Network, free Destination Chargers, large screen entertainment system (with HULU, Disney, video games, etc.), tons of luggage storage space (trunk and frunk), Autopilot on the highway, security system that allows you to watch 360 degrees around the car when parked, camp mode/dog mode, and ability to leave the air-conditioning running without running a gasoline engine. Make it the ideal road trip car.
