I have one similar like this that I use for the 3d modeling objects etc for 3d printing. This however is different, it's only ever useful for 3d modeling surrounding areas not objects. The smooth circular movement is meh since that's already a given for electronic mounts. And the downsides for this is for the most part all of this has to be controlled through the app, meaning it's only a matter of time till if becomes as useless as a brick. You also Can't use this for tracking movement video capture.

This thing is really useless unless you really need it. I ended up keeping it for the tripod lol. Huge warning, scans of your room will be sent, processed, and STORED on their server.

Can you use the app without the plan? Or is it a subscription based service? I wonder if it can be somehow hacked to use for other purposes. I feel like the hardware itself costs more than the deal price here.

That's what I was thinking. Someone with the ability to hack it should do it. I can't justify buying for myself since I cannot hack and I'm not into real estate.

How does this merge multiple rooms without location tracking? Do you have to manually stitch 3D scans?

Seems like a lot of limitation. No tilting, no horizontal mounting, only have to use app with paid subscription.

I'm in construction and currently use my Insta360 x2 for photo-historical progress, and to look back at where pipes and wires are behind walls. This looks interesting but a lot more gear to carry then my selfie stick tripod and the x2 which I can all fit in my vest pockets. I do like that I can get better photos with Matterport because it uses the phones sensor which when stitched has higher resolution than the 360 camera. Might get this just to play around with it

For commercial and residential property 360 view walkthroughs. This is a very specialized piece for equipment tied tightly to the Matterport app and system. Will pay for itself in one use if you are an agent and have a Matterport subscription and sell the property but for general users it is not going to be useful as a stabilizing phone camera mount.

This is for 3D modeling of real estate and building interiors. You must use Matterport hosting. You can't do much else, but it can do so-so outdoor spaces with some effort. There is a learning curve to scan, adjust and upload your captures to Matterport.

You need a plan to host your spaces, starting at $10/month. This purchase gives you one year. Anyone can also try one space for free.

The Axis device only works with the Matterport app, which then uploads your scans to Matterport for proprietary 3D modeling of your space. There's nothing to hack here since general purpose 360 cameras are affordable and this is a proprietary system controlled by Matterport.
