WSJ Online is free through many libraries. Have been reading it for free, from the comfort of my home or at work for $0.00 for years now.

It's 800 points, just did it. Thanks for that.
I am showing 1K as well, not 800.

Might just do it to make $6.50, haha.

They cover finance well, deals, capital market stuff etc. That's all I know it/have used it for.

I read the online "print edition".

Front page, US News, Business/Finance and then their special sections. I skip all of the opinion and world news pieces.

Some of the A-HED articles are classics.

Or go back to school and get a .edu account. WSJ is free with most programs.
You don't have to go back to school. As an alumnus, my college gives me a .edu email and digital access to many databases and publications through its library including the WSJ.

The $0.50/wk is only for 1 year, then it goes up to $9.75/wk!
like any other subscription on promo, you cancel and sign up for a new promo. it may not be 50c but I'm sure there will be other promos less than the standard $9.75/ wk

You might not care but here's my perspective.

I read a lot of news and have for decades. I get the WSJ and NYT free through work. I used to read the NYT, WSJ, the Washington Post, and the Associated Press regularly. I stopped reading the Washington Post last year. Its quality tanked over the past several years. It's been struggling for a while but I don't think Jeff Bezos helped it any.

More recently I've also mostly stopped reading the NYT. They have some good articles from time to time but I find that for general news, the WSJ is really good; it has a business focus but they cover everything major. Their general reporting is solid and about as unbiased as possible (it really is). Maybe you want a strong bias in your news but I prefer news to be less biased.

Now, their opinion section (not news) has a strong bias but those articles are easy to ignore if you don't like that bias. I mostly steer clear.

So now I'm mostly just reading the WSJ and Associated Press with a few other random stories that pop up from other sources (NPR, BBC, NYT, local). I think this gives me a less biased source of news from my I can draw my own conclusions colored by my own biases. I might switch away from the WSJ if its quality declines but they've maintained great quality (in my opinion).

The library around here gives 72-hour passes. Every 3-days, login to the library site, get a free pass and read. It takes about 30 seconds every 3-days.
So, then, 5 minutes of work every month instead of just paying $2. Then you can only access it through the website, instead of using a news aggregator app. I get paid more than $24/hr.

Yea, I'll just pay the $2/mo to save all that hassle. People here on SD spend a lot more than that for other convenience services and products.

Anyone know how to free access to the New York Times? My local library doesn't provide access.

Sure, that is great for the first year, but then the price goes up significantly.

I sure hope you make more than $24 per hour in this day and age, lol.

We all make choices, mine is the right choice, so is yours.

Dude, a lot of people make less than $24/hr. Have you ever stopped by anywhere in the Midwest or South? That's the equivalent of a $50K/year salary, which is more than the national average.

Me neither. But, it's good to know what's going on outside of your immediate area.

Mainstream media are all professional liars. I get my news from Tiktok. Someone sees an event and films it themselves and uploads it. No needing some biased Ivy League graduate write their own version of events to suit their agenda and to sensationalize for profit. I get to see what happened firsthand from the source.

No need to read the newspaper as much as I used to now.
Funniest thing I have read in a while.

Yep and somebody trying to get clicks for their views in Tik-Tok has no biases and is completely true.

Rolling eyes.
