HiFiMAN Electronics is a Chinese manufacturer of audio products including headphones, amplifiers, and portable audio players. Hifiman is known for its high-end audio products, initially made under the brand Head-Direct but now only as HIFIMAN. Source: Wiki

I ended keeping my $329 refurbished XS order. They're perfectly mint condition as sort of expected. As other have said from what I can tell reading around the Edition XS was slightly better the original Ananda but now the stealth version helps bump the Ananda up again and they have different strengths and weakness.

When compared to the 6XXs the XS have more sub base, brighter highs, a bigger sound stage, and more separation/clarity. The 6XX have warmer vocals and mids stand out a tad more at certain frequencies everything is more intimate with less sound stage.

I looked over the first two pages of comments and FOUND NOTHING about a dedicated amp!! It would make ANY expensive headphones like this REALLY shine! My experience... Wink

Horrible for fps. Just returned as it was impossible to determine location of sounds.

I've got a HE-400i from years ago that I really like. Is it worthwhile to upgrade? I'll say that I got a HE-500 that I returned because I found the sound too bright. I like a more mellow, warm sound with a fair amount of bass response.

Ive tried the edition XS which is very similar to this one and it wasnt great for positioning in games. Look at the Zeus elite for comp gaming. They are about the same price

I've put in an order for the Anandas anyway, f it if I'm a bit "annoying" with sound leakage in the office. If I need to be "incognito" I'll just switch
The leakage does seem bad based on videos of other planar hifiman headphones. Almost like having speakers on your ears that point away from your ears. Since the actual planar magnet seems to be on edge of the casing.

Regular price clearly stated on Amazon page as $549, not $999

Slickdeals posters need to stop inflating the "original" price in their title. It's bad form.
CCC has tracked the price at $750 since Oct '22 until last week. Still not the $999 SD lists it as, but not the $549 current Prime price either.

What did you use to pay? If CC, isn't there a hefty conversion fee? Also, what sort of translator did you use?

I need two pairs of open back headphones for video games and movies. Is this suitable with some dac/amp setup? I'm not very knowledgeable about audio stuff but I'm just looking for a neutral sound while being able to hear my surroundings.
